hey not saying they should do it but only reasonable explanation i can come up with.
on the other hand with horcs contract we have our 3rd line center for the next three years
That's pretty sad if Eager is one of the best 4th liners the Oilers have had in a long time.
Anyhow happy with the point since i thought they wouldn't get anything with Conklin in net. Joey Mac played well. - dcz28
This shows yet again why the Wings need to replace Conklin. He just looks shaky every game now. He's not even coming out and challenging shooters like he needs to. I still think their best option is Nabokov in terms of decent backup veteran goalie who wouldn't cost much. They should keep Joey Mac up in Detroit until Howard is back. Wonder if Babcock will start Joey Mac in Phoenix for their next game.
Bummed I missed Kronwall's hit on Hemsky. I have to see it on a replay. Glad the Wings at least got a point tonight.

Why is Belanger shooting before Nuge? Seriously Renney....... - dragonslade
I wondered about a lot of Renneys choices tonight. I know he likes to roll his lines, but when you're down a goal why have Smyth who has score 1 goal in 13 games, Belanger with 2 in however many and Jones who has gone goalless in 16 straight on the ice in the final two minutes while you Hall, Eberle and Gagner putting up points on almost every shift sitting. Luckily Ebs and Gags got on the ice in the final minute. Then he continues to run with Smyth and Belanger in ot.

Joey Mac should get the next start...he earned it.
Nabokov is the best option but also Roloson couldn't be worst than Conklin either.

Clean hit. His skates were on the ice when he made contact and he hit him with his back as he turned like he did with Kesler.

looks like he might have got his elbow up, I still think it was a good hit though, can't be taking every hit out of the game and Hemsky HAS TO keep his head up there. If Kronwall did have his elbow up I'm sure it wouldn't be any more than a fine. I'm also very impressed Hemsky got up and kept playing, I thought he would have shattered from that hit.

The Bulin wall is available, and he'd be a darkhorse in the playoffs. You guys love reclamation projects. He was lights out early this year
there's no way roli is better than khabby at this point. - DrinkOil
But Roli doesn't have another season at 3.7 million on his contract which makes me think he is not an option. Wings can spend that money better in the summer than pay a backup more than their starter.

Derek Meech (7th round),---Meech is not even in the league anymore and he is almost 30, far from a success.
Jonathan Ericsson (9th round)---3rd pairing Dman...not much else can be said
Kyle Quincey (4th round)---solid pick
Darren Helm (5th round)---this one is a sweet pick also
Jan Mursak (6th round), Gustav Nyquist (4th round)--can'\t claim these two since they have not made it.... - dcz28
Now since Zetterberg was drafted in 99 there have been about 10 draft picks in each of the 5th+ draft rounds.
Out of about 50 guys you named off 6, 2 are good picks, 1 is a serviceable player, 2 are too young to call a success or failure and 1 is not NHL material. While I certainly will admit that Det scouting and player development is one of if not the best in the league, only 3 players are NHL players, 3/50...and that is a high % for those draft rounds, due to teh level of the team's scouting...
Which brings us back to the point...hemsky is worth more than one of your low end draft picks and a low end prospect.

It was a clean hit LAST YEAR. Any contact to a players head is not a clean hit anymore, unless of course they are reaching outward or downward which was not the case here. Elbow and upper arm hits Hemsky square in the nose/mouth area and Kronwall should have rec'd a minor penalty. He will likely be fined. No suspension since Hemsky stayed in the game and Kronwalls feet stayed down, well one did anyway.

Can't see it. Unless there is a much better angle than this one there doesn't seem to be conclusive evidence that the head is the principle point of contact. No penalty, so the refs thought it was clean.
Kronwall seems to have found a strange loophole to hit and knock someones block off w/o a penalty.

Good to see big hits not always penalized. - OilHorse
Pause the video at 51 secs. Its upper arm/elbow square on jaw/mouth.
