In the early 2000s when Boston stunk, it was Toronto, the Sens, and to a lesser degree Buffalo in that out-of-division hate role. Now I can't quite hate them as much either. Plus Toronto without Tucker, Domi, and Corson almost seems like a cuddly bunch

Having Lupul helps. More than having Renberg did, because I disliked many of Rennie's teammates there.

What's going on with Calipari? People in the bluegrass state expecting a championship?
- PLindbergh31

My mother-in-law told me just last night that "the cats are doing well". I said "oh yeah?" That is about as close as I follow things. They expect a trophy every year here though...I mean they even expected it when Gillespie was the coach. Cal will probably deliver in the next few years. Then he'll retire and all the NCAA violation rumors will start swirling.

peyton > eli

there it is

- Crimsoninja

Eli
GP=121 Comp=2,291 Att=3,921 Comp%=58.4 Yards=27,579 Avg=7.0 TD=185 Int=129

Peyton
GP=208 Comp=4,682 Att=7,210 Comp%=64.9 Yards=54,828 Avg=7.6 TD=399 Int=198

Peyton might be done now. Eli could play for another 6 years. Can't tell until they're both done.

not me

the fact that people are seriously questioning if Eli is better than Peyton is beyond absurd to me

- Crimsoninja

i think there's a good argument that he's more clutch.....but not straight up better. total comparison is not even close. that said, not many qbs hold up well in a comparison with peyton

He would deliver if he started recruiting kids who stay in college for more than a year. These uber talents that are one and done, it's tough to win a single elimination tournament with a bunch of 18 year olds regardless of talent level.

but you could also say that about, say, andy dalton. or joe flacco

you have to assume that the comparisons are based on what we've seen of them so far, imo

Yeah and the kids would be better served staying in school too. I mean, I don't hear much about John Wall these days...and I'm not going to waste any time googling him...who has time when you've got to figure out the cap situation for when Philly gets Weber!

he's more lucky and has played with great defenses. so sick of him heaving it up in the 4th quarter with his eyes closed

i was rooting for the giants in that 07 super bowl

but c'mon. asante drops the game ending INT and the biggest play of the game is some fluke catch off tyree's helmet that happens 1 out of every 1000 times.

Wall has taken his talents to D.C. where he runs the show for the 4-18 Washington Wizards.

So far I've seen that they have the same amount of rings and that Eli is catching up to Peyton stats wise.

i hear ya man

but if he wins another one it gets pretty tough to write him off as a fluke, imo. he's definitely been in some fortunate situations, but he seems to make the most of them. a lot more than many qbs can say

i used to rag on eli all the time. i thought he stunk (looked like he would just throw up prayers to burress for years). but it's tough to ignore him now. i find it hard to rank him outside the top 6-8 qbs in the league right now

Depends what your comparing. Some people like to look at championships. My only question is does that make Trent Dilfer better than Dan Marino?

Eli is a very good QB in the NFL. I still would take Peyton anyday of the week over him. If not for the Pats, Peyton would have more titles by now and Indy never had a defense period. The only reason they were any good is bc of Peyton and that showed this year.

.........and Peyton played with better receivers. He heaved the rock up a fair few times himself.

fair enough, it's definitely an area where reasonable minds can differ

i just think he would need to seriously dominate through the end of his career to catch up. and that's not intended as a knock on eli, peyton is just a first ballot HOFer. probably one of the best ever. that's hard to top, imo

The only QB's clearly better than Eli right now are:

1. Brady
2. Peyton
3. Brees
4. Rodgers

Some things have not changed since I left the DC area 8 years ago. You can always count on Dan Snyder blowing his wad on a bunch of guys who underperform, the wizards sucking, and the humidity in DC (I'll leave the politics alone).

poop I better split and get a bit more work done on my day. Y'all have a fine aft'noon now.

Some would argue Big Ben (who I think is overrated).
