The thing is that many Oiler fans and trade rumours have him being the first person out of town. Even before Hemsky. I believe that he could be a #2 center for them if he could get his game to be more consistant. Not 21 games without a goal, then 8 points one night.
They named him the 1st, 2nd and 3rd star.
Also Hall and Eberle each had 4 points. That is why Oiler fans are excited for the future. - Ben37
I don't know, the only thing he has been consistant with during his career is inconsistency. Sometimes the gods shine down, I mean even Ryan Whitney scored.
I would argue his trade value might never be higher. |

The last 8 point night in the NHL was Mario Lemieux on Apr 25, 1989. Sam Gagner was born on August 10, 1989.

3 total. His 5 goals, 5 different ways is still tops in my book. |

He averages 49 points a season, and it has been desired for him to up that. This season has been rough for him. Injured at the start and he has played in every position from first line LW to 4th line RW at some point. I think they just need to leave him with either Eberle or Hall and see what happens instead of moving him all through the lineup. |

Eberle was dishing tonight. Still think he would look better than anyone on Sid's wing. |

I'm sure Ben would agree, the problem with Gagner moving forward is that he is stuck as a third center, much like Staal is. Unfortunately for him he does not play Selke caliber defense and is unable to adequately fill that third line role. He needs top 6 minutes, will he get them in Edmonton? I dont know. I know this, the 8 point game is going to bring attention to him that can be parlayed into more value if he can keep playing at a good level. Might be the piece that can get Edmonton some defense help. |

You're right, Bob MacKenzie said it last night too. Gagner needs to be playing in a top 6 role, even moreso than Staal because he lacks the defensive side of the game. He also needs at least one winger who can play. Right now he is the player who is the beneficiary of Hopkins injury. Moving forward though the Oilers might be smart to play Hopkins with Eberle and Hall with Gagner. |

I can guarantee you though that when games arent in HD on the Center Ice Package it looks like somebody smeared a whole jar of Vaseline on the screen. Totally unacceptable at this day in age. |

I noticed that last night watching a few minutes of the Habs/Devils game. It was no different on our Sony LCD though. The games were unwatchable in SD. When every game in the league is broadcast in HD, how there are only SD feeds available on the Center Ice package is beyond me. I think some of it is Time Warner. They're dreadful. |

That is all of it. Here in Rochester they only allot two HD channels to the hockey package. And before this year only 1. That and all Canadian broadcasts for some reason are not allowed to be in HD unless they are on the NHL Network. Brutal. |

We now have 9 HD channels for the package through TWC here in Raleigh. That's the only reason I didn't get DirectTV. That's new this year. Last year they only had 2 HD feeds, but didn't always have a game on in HD. Even with 9 HD channels, some games are still only in SD. The feed for the Devils/Habs game was the Devils home feed, yet still only in SD while having the Sportnet in HD feed Wings/Canucks. Unacceptable by today's standards. |

I mean how are we going to utilize the technology of televisions that have double the resolution of 1080p when we can't even get sporting events in basic HD? The infrastructure is so far behind its laughable. |

Johnson has a good game and our offense can't get it by the goaltender. Guess he deserved to be in the ASG after all. |

I'm never surprised by the low level of service with TWC. They always seem to be involved in a pissing match with someone. We can't even get the NFL Network or Redzone Channel. I know they want access to Sunday ticket, but they're not getting it so get over it already. |
