I just can't see why some wouldn't think Jeff Carter will help us, better player then Roy IMO. Roy is playing like he wants out.
- SABRES 89

He might have a better skill set but he's just as lazy, if not more.

I think Roys done here. Its not about skill i think hes just had it.The guys a number one or two center on alot of teams.I think Darcy probably gets calls but u have to get a quality center back for him.Thats the tough part.
- buffalo 1

I agree on Roy which is why I would move him for a pick and a prospect and then throw a good offer at Columbus for Jeff Carter.

Because he has the same attitude problems as the player he'd be replacing.

Jeff Carter got the boot out of PHI along with Richards for a reason. They didn't like the locker room and made a change. When Carter got dealt to CBJ, he didn't contact them for over a week(unsure of specific amount of days). He practically went kicking and screaming. Now CBJ is looking at options to trade him? He hasn't even played a full season. Do you see where this is going?

Short-term: he would help. Long term: Just another cancer.

With Ennis playing pretty well at pivot do you think fans will lower there expectations for the return on a Roy trade? Even better question, do you think Darcy will?

Its the years that kill it. He will be two teams removed for the team that made a deal he doesnt deserve.

Not sold on Carter he was fading in Philly and horrible with the Jackets but agree hes better then Roy with little desire to play here now.

what did he say?
- homiedclown

He said that Roy had to bury that late chance. I guess you could call it "calling him out", but it really wasn't anything earth shattering. I'm sure Roy, and anyone else, would stay the same.

They're not making the playoffs, but I can't blame them for trying to. I understand that finishing in 10th or so, and 3 points out, gives you a worse draft pick, and accomplishes next to nothing, but I can't bring myself to root for my team to lose for a better draft pick. It just isn't much fun. I look at it as "baby steps". They were entertaining last night and tonight (despite the score). Now, get a couple wins and see what happens.

Teams like Boston and others have already proven, if you really want a guy in the draft, you can trade up for him without giving up an arm and a leg. Not getting a lottery pick, unless there's a Crosby available (which there isn't), means very little to me.

Trying to respond to everyone that responded to me about Carter, I guess everyone has differant opinions on him and that's fine. I don't think we have to worry because Darcy will do nothing but move Boyes and try to get the second round pick back for him.

if the plan is to compete with philly, the pens, and the b's long term by making moves to improve the club, I am ok finishing 9th

it's no moves and 9th place that will piss me off

To get that close, they need to make moves regardless. This team, as constructed, won't get past 12th. They just don't have enough scoring up front.

Agreed, but the sad thing is I think we have the right guys on defense the problem is solely up front.
