The Philadelphia Flyers have been in talks with the LA Kings; it is believed that the Flyers are interested in defenceman, Jack Johnson.

He's pretty good offensively. When looking at Johnson it's the raw skill package your looking at. I'm not saying the Flyers should or shouldn't trade for him. But your hoping that he hits his stride and puts it together in his own end. And if he does, then you could have a very good player on your hands. But there are certainly negatives involved. And it seems like a risk.

I think they should go after a defenseman with very little risk and one without a gigantic cap hit. He's young, he has skill, that's great but in my opinion that isn't what we need. We need a player who knows his way around his own end, not one who will get lost there.

I couldn't agree more that we need a defenseman who is good in his own end. But there are two needs here. One short term, and one long term. With the right player, they can fill both needs with one player. Jack Johnson isn't on the top of the list long term for me. But that doesn't mean there isn't an intriguing skill package there.

So you're okay with bringing in a short term UFA and maybe a long term young guy, both on D? I can't even stretch how important a physical guy on the back end is as well.

I'm watching this 0-0 Rangers/Sabers game. We could really use a guy like Paul Gaustad. He's played really well as a big defensive center. It wouldn't shock me in the least if he scored to make it 1-0.
