Predators GM David Poile said that negotiations to ink Ryan Suter to a contract extension are ongoing. Suter recently said that he doesn't expect to re-sign before the trade deadline. Suter is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent this summer. "It’s just ongoing, it’s the same situation," Poile said. "Everything is being said the way you want a player to say it and the way you want a negotiation to go, except for the final commitment. It’s almost like we’re having a good time together, but we haven’t decided to get married yet." Source: The Nashville Tennessean

Three rookies, the inept Matt Carle and One-Way Jagr. Of course Thorburn scored.

I thought the team started off slow and weren't entirely sharp throughout. They did a good job of putting the pressure on at the end of the second and moments of the 3rd. There are times where I don't agree with every decision Laviolette makes but it is what it is. Doesn't mean I want the guy fired or I hate him.

Holmstrom was sent down today, so either Harry Z, or Rinaldo will be in the lineup Thursday. Preferably both.

He was good last night. He was about reason # 20 why they lost the game. He was still outplayed by Pavelec last night.

Are you serious? He was not outplayed by Pavelec.

The Flyers got dominated yesterday. The Flyers played for about 10mins total and did nothing the rest of the game. The defense was terrible all night.

Good to see our shootout players go 0-3 also.

Not that I feel this is important because I don't. No matter what, I wouldn't stand pat on defense. Burdon and Gus in my mind aren't enough. However, our rookie forwards seem to be more then enough. Should we upgrade at forward though? I'm thinking no but I wouldn't put it past Homer, even if it's a waiver pick up.

Pavelec faced the far tougher chances in the third period. as well as not allowing a goal in the shootout. I thought Pavelec was very solid last night. Neither goaltender saw a ton of rubber.

It seems like Laviolette is gaining trust in Bourdon and Gustafsson. Bourdon played 20 minutes last night, while Gus played 18. They aren't enough to win a cup, but adding Allen, or Gill, or anyone else isn't either.

What goalie doesnt shutout the Flyers when it comes to shootout? Its like pulling teeth for the Flyers to score one friggin goal in the gimmick. The second period the Flyers gave up a number of great scoring chances. The gimmick is what seperated the thought process on Bryz last night. If the Flyers win that game in the gimmick everyone would be all over how good he was.

Next time I hope Lavi selects Bryz to be a shooter.

dominated? scoring chances were few and far between for each of the sluggish teams until the flyers carried the play in the third.

If we were playing another playoff team last night, I would be impressed. At least Allen get you bigger and tougher. I don't think it's right to go into the playoffs with the mindset that we're going to lose. Underdogs have gotten far in this league in the past.

The only way I upgrade at forward is if its for a star forward that shoots first and thinks pass second. In other words... from what is available... Nash, Iginla, or Ryan. Anything less, and I would rather stick with what we have.

But yes, I think we need to upgrade defense too. Maybe that deal between ANA and TOR and Philly are still going on.

To Toronto:
Voracek, Philly 2

To Philly:
Ryan, L.Schenn

To Ana:
JVR, Toronto 1, Philly 1

I'm not opposed to adding a veteran dman, but it depends on the cost. If it takes an overpayment I would prefer the Flyers keep their picks and young players.
