I used to watch the pair in London and wow what a pair.
Would be nice but then they need to find a winger for Toews

Sow start healthy scratch = expendable
- Cartwrightfor4

Except he was never a healthy scratch unlike Omark who you had as an example of why Gagner was expendable

UFA 36 year-old Sutton + a prospect isn't fairly close to Peckham and a top 35 pick?
- Morris

No. When I say prospect, I mean a guy like Curtis Hamilton.

i don't think the Hawks are interested in Hemsky or Gagner. I could be wrong. Not what they need.
- John Jaeckel

They desperately need a center, I know.

Why not move Sharp back there 5 on 5? I know they've tried Kane there.

To play devil's advocate, Hamilton wasn't really considered a steal as a mid-second pick, and hasn't really improved that much vis a vis his draft standing. The only advantage he has over a higher 2nd would be that he's nominally closer to being an NHLer.

So is it that 40 games of Sutton is THAT much better than Peckham in your mind ?

This would be placing Chicago into contender territory for sure if they all can stay healthy... that would be some awesome lines IMO

As blastphemous as it seems, the Cancuks and Hawks might make a good pair given that the nucks have centres galore and could use a guy with a bit of size and heart like Frolik.

IMO? Yes. Sutton is a vet. He's going to be extremely valuable come playoff time. Not to mention he can still play a soilid 15-17 minutes a night.

While Peckham has made some strides in his game, I dont think he'd be as beneficial to the Hawks playoff run. Not to mention I'd like to see him re-up with Edmonton.

First!

Peckham and a 2nd round pick

I think Sutton is a slow dman in the mold of a younger O'Donnell. I don't know much about Peckham but think this deal might work. What kind of game does Peckham play? What is his contract status?

- ikeane

For me Peckham has skating issues (lacks lateral movement) needed to be a true shutdown guy and has issues with defensive positioning. However, that being said he is young and still has time to mature into a true shut down D and it is well known that D-men take time to develop.

He was definitely rushed to the NHL due to injuries but he has some very good qualities. He has size and uses it. Young dman with size are often knocked for not using their size. He is a complete tank and willing to drop the mitts when need be. From his early NHL action he seems to pick his spots much better. However I feel his overall development has slowed significantly compared to other young dmen in the Oilers system.

Peckham and a 3rd for Frolik makes sense to me if the Hawks want to dump his salary due to underproduction.

Morrison honestly could be a healthy scratch with that line-up. Only person he could usurp would be Krueger.

Good question.

First, I don't necessarily agree they desperately need a center. It's a nice to have. But they have Sharp and Morrison and Kruger is maybe better than you guys realize.

What they need are:

- a physical defenseman (or two)
- and a physical forward (or two)

Gagner and Hemsky— all else aside— do nothing to address the Hawks biggest problem, keeping the puck out of their own net. They are not tough enough to play against over 200 feet of ice, and their defense after the top 3 gets a little dicey (at best)

That lineup is soft as butter, worse still with Hemsky and Gagner. PASS!

I think Morrison is an ok bottom 6 center. Certainly ok for your team with a guy like Bolland. If Sharp is in the middle, then center's not really the issue.

Dear Oiler fans,

You are Canada's embarrassment 5 years running. At what point do you get rid of your "rebuilding" excuse and look at your team for what it really is. But that's ok because Hemsky is worth a lottery pick, mid-round 1st pick and an early 2nd rounder. Get real! Hemsky to a contender for a long playoff run? Hemsky is a strong as a honey glazed timbit.

Well, there's a decent amount of gritty dmen to be had, but the only guy being loudly shopped that fits the bill for forwards is Ruutu, and I have a feeling he will cost an arm and a leg.
