I assumed that is how Burke pulls off his deals

Didn't know Horcs had picked it up.. Figured it was a favour to them to take that contract

- mfreedman

They know he isn't worth the contract, but he is playing fine on the third line.

He was never the first liner they tried to make him into.

If someone wanted him, they would trade him but they are not actively looking to dump him.

Baertschi haha. That'll be the day.

I don't think there is any reason you guys should trade him, but based on the fact that it seems you guys dont want to do a recuild, maybe he could be had for some real help 'now'

If they don't make some significant moves soon, I have a feeling they will have to blow it up..

Their most marketable assets are getting older, and they need to move them while they ave value, imo.

one month till the deadline and ek still mailing it in....come on ek, it's the afternoon, you know the drill:
open them basement curtains, turn on the coffee maker, hit the on button and let's see what we can dream up........
howzabout we start with Hemsky just for fun, move on to the Carter/Nash duo, maybe a tidbit about Weber to Philly and of course, one lil saucey number from left field.
lets do this thing.

Yeah I agree, they should trade Iggy, Gio, GlenX, Cammy, Smith and Kipper.

Lol, No, and No..

I do want MPS, but if you're selling him, its because his value has dropped significantly.. Last year you guys wouldnt have dreamed about trading him..

I actually want to see if we can agree on a trade though:

I do want MPS, and you need D, hmm.. We also need more Cap space....

I'd do Schenn + Lombo + Komi for MPS + Horcoff + 3rd

You get 2 D you can easily fit into your top 4 in Komi and Schenn, you eat Lombo andKomis salary for 2 years, we eat Horcoff's salary for the next 4 years ( ), but get a 3rd because of it.

Meanwhile Kopmi and Lombo's salaries are off the books when you need to resign Hall, RNH, Eberle, etc...

deal!?

Edit: Fixed the pick

- mfreedman

that's awful. Lombo is at least turning his game around, and the Leafs have no need to move Schenn for a guy who's struggling even worse. For reference: Schenn has as many points with the Leafs, playing 0 minutes on the PP and primarily in defensive situations, as MPS has playing all season, between the Oilers and the Barons. And in the long run, we take on extra cap to boot.

Trading a defensive d-man for an offensive forward help shouldn't result in a net loss of points.

Not sure if that's sarcasm or not...

I do think that it would be best for the future to do this, but I understand the desire to keep some of the guys around, similar to Alfreddson in Ottawa.

Kipper should go, there are quite a few teams that could really use him, and the return would be nice..

As for the others, depending on the return, I wouldn't rule it out.

the best part of that phaneuf thread was all the Flames fans who thought the deal would(could) put them over the top in a run to the cup.

And they still don't think they need to rebuild.

crazy.

So you think they should let all of those guys play out their days until they are too old to move and have them all retire as flames?

If come the deadline they are not in a playoff spot (which is quite likely) the only one in that group they should consider moving is Kipper, and only if the return is very good.

That's exactly what I said

The others could be moved in the offseason, only if it improves them in the long run.

It's absolutely hilarious because we're not stripping it down like the Oilers we
are not rebuilding. I know it's worked so well for the Oilers so maybe the Flames should re-think their process.

there will always be some delusionals.....but in fairness, some of the leaf trade proposals I've read over the past week lead me to believe there are just as many delusional leaf fans and media mongers.
