way to stick your neck out....and I predict that if it rains tomorrow the sidewalks will be wet...call it a hunch - trainspotter60
Fine - if the Leafs miss the playoffs, Ronnie is 100% gone!!!!
At least that's what I think, and of course I could be wrong. He may get to stay and coach the next season. Or at least start behind the bench for the next season, but who knows what happens then. |

Considering Dregers twitter says Burke has "never" Discussed a trade for Nash .... I believe Dreger over that lard ass watters .....but you can dream - juniorcarp
Yeah you don't truly get more credible than Mackenize, Dreger and perhaps Lebrun, who gets tossed around because of his turkey neck.
I don't really take those clowns on Sportsnet seriously, even Kyper's fallen off the wagon the last few years |

Truth be told, I'd rather just re-sign Grabbo than trade for Stastny.
We can have a pleasant little debate over who is ultimately better, and you can probably convince me that it's Stastny, but when you factor in that we don't have to give up anything to re-sign Grabbo, and we would have to move big assets to obtain Stastny, I'm going to go with Grabbo, thank you very much. - Atomic Wedgie
I said a couple pages back they should resign Grabbo and do their best to move the log jam of inadequate other centers (Connolly, Bozak).
Honestly the best thing would be to try to get either Couturier or B. Schenn from Philly by next summer 2013. Philly doesn't have long term room for both of them.

I have no bromance for B. Schenn.
It's funny how Kadri is considered a complete bust, and Schenn is still the greatest prospect out there.
Except Kadri has more games, goals, assists and points. |

Actually no he doesn't.
career averages
Nash: 641GP, 276G = 0.43 Goals per game
Carter 491GP, 191G = 0.39 Goals per game

Staal is 8 months older than Getzlaf - Big_Lightnin
Thanks for the correction I was looking at Ryan's age, which is almost 4 yrs. But I think Getzlaf is better than Staal and Anaheim could afford to part with him since they have Perry and Ryan and could add two new picks, defenseman from the trade and younger players. |

Well, he wouldn't need another extension - he already has one.
Playoffs = success for Ronnie as a coach.
Everything else is just gravy.
I don't agree with it. I'm just telling you the reality. Burkie likes him. |

of all the names being bandied about, by far Getzlaf is the best fit..and probably the least likely to ever happen |

Never said either.
B Schenn is a big physical offensive center with top line potential. This is exactly what the Leafs need.
If they can get him and keep Kadri, excellent.
I'll defend Kadri toll the cows come home, but the main reason he has more NHL games is Schenn has been in the system on two very good teams with great depth at center, and Kadri's been on the Leafs. |

I would take Staal over Getz.
There's not a lot between them, Staal has a bigger cap hit, but at the same time he's a Staal.
One man produced 3 NHL stars. That guy must feel pretty good about himself.
The fourth one Jared must feel like the weakest Baldwin or whatever |

Carter has also played with much better players than Nash over the years. Nash is the better player, no question. |

Question for Waffle Nation:
Why is half of the board drooling at getting 27 year old Rick Nash, $7.8 million cap hit for the next 6 years, point totals for the past three years of 79, 67 and 66
- yet -
Nobody wants to consider 27 year old Jeff Carter, $5.273 million cap hit for the next 10 years, but the last 3 years at almost nothing in actual salary, point totals for the past three years of 84, 61, 66?
Not to mention he's a centre. - Atomic Wedgie

of all the big names tossed around (Nash, Getzlaf, Staal, Carter), the only one that has any chance of happening is Carter. They're all big bodies up front, they're all the type of player that Burke covets, but the only reason that Carter could happen is because of that hideous contract.
I would do it if it meant that somebody like Komisarek went the other way, but no way I'd give up any real assets for him; certainly not a 1st round pick and a young prospect. Maybe one or the other, but not both. |

Anybody watching the Jay's state of the franchise? So far basically saying they won't touch any long term deals. If Fielder was fine with 5 years they would have been in on him. Kinda frustrating considering all big name guys seem to be looking for 8-10 year deals. |

But they were in the final bids for Yu Darvish...
50M just to try to sign him (obviously if they didn't come to an agreement they get the money back)
but 50M before even signing him to a potential monster deal?
Why not go out and spend the money to protect Joey?

I forgot about you being a Sox fan. But you're right about having a bat behind Bautista. He's going to be wasted. He's not getting any younger. I can see this team going the route of the Isles or BlueJackets...heh, BJs and BJs. Constantly trading off the older guys to hope finally get a kid that will be a champ.
I had dreams of:
2.Lawrie
3. Bautista
4. Fielder
5. Lind
You wouldn't see 100+ walks for Bautista...those 4 guys would have great numbers. Easier said than done I guess. |

That 4 would be very scary. Thank God.
As for the sox, I can't get anymore excited for a team than I was for them LAST off season.
we know how that turned out. |
