Since when was there such a thing as a 'hometown discount' with regards to Grabs? Sure, his career's taken off here, but he's turning 28, he's in his prime and this might be his only chance to truly land a big paycheque. I'm sceptical of this assumption he loves it here so much he turn down an extra 5 million dollars, c'mon guys, he's Russian.
If some GM out there offers him 5yr/25m...and it's a sunny destination his GF would like to raise a new child, then why would he stay in toronto for a million less per year?
RJ Umberger was able to get 4.6per from CBJ.
Ribeiro got 4.5 a couple years ago.
Grabs will land 5m+ depending on the supply of second line centre this summer which effects how mcuh competition GMs have landing him. - AngryWhiteMale
Grabbo's going to have difficulties if he tries to use Ribeiro as a comparable...
EDIT: although it is a very soft UFA center market this summer. He's arguably the best available (and I only say arbguably because he's a Leaf. He's handsdown the best available) |

You keep him unless 1. You find something better; or 2. He's being a d-bag and demanding too much.
Cash can be freed up. I can't see Lombo, Armstrong, Connolly and all of their big contracts playing in the bottom 6 next year. One or two can be moved. For god's sake that'd be the top line in Montreal. BOOM!! I have to leave now. - The Law
Connoly and Army make a combined 6.5
Their contracts end the same year Lupul's(4.25 as of now) ends.
Loops' new deal will be in the 6 range if he keeps this up.
So we'll end up saving 5 mil per or so on Lombo and Army.
Kulemin's an RFA, and should be had for a relatively fair price after this year |

4-5 mill - robin_steele264
he's a sexy little player on the ice, highlights galore, perfect for a mid-level
american market team, and his agent (frank)ing knows this....if bb isn't willing to cough up at least 15 over 3yrs( not thinking so), I say the little (frank)er walks on us....
love the kid, but we gotta move him now |

You know what my favourite part of all these Rick Nash scenarios is?
Every proposed new roster has him on the 2nd line. - Big_Lightnin
Who care what line is designated the official 'First' line
At the end of the day, your top two lines will basically split ice time, with very little difference between the two of them.
That's a purely nominal designation: 1st line |

I didn't mean you pee yourself. Was replying to him through your comment since you pointed out that he pees himself at night.

im indifferent...we really dont know "what" hes saying or "what" hes instructing...I cant tell you the problems we've experienced so far was due to his poor systems, or having a young team, with new faces, who are just starting to figure things out.
So... - noename09
To me the guy looks and acts like a moron. He used to throw his player under the bus. And I'm telling you that it will be hard to land a top line centre due to Wilson's character. |

Ribeiro's number's are refective of the fact that he played with better players, I consider him and Grabs to be very comparable |

my point was more that Nash and Kessel will likely be on the same line...
(waits for vitriol of splitting up Kessel and Lupul...) |

again...I can judge players by how they play on the ice...but I cant see or hear what Wilson is doing and dont know where to place the blame. Burke seems to think hes a great coach, he has numbers to prove it and players have said they like him. Coaches are a hard thing to judge for us fans...I find... |

Reason? We've had the worst pk under his tenure, one of the worst defensive stats and no playoffs. So please give me your reasons as to why that moron shouldn't be fired. |

I don't think there's necessarily a set Idea of who plays with whom.
You take any one of Connolly, Bozak, Kessel, Loops, Nash and either Frattin/MAC/Kuli(the 6th wheel) and you get your top 2 lines.
It will be a period of experimentation for sure. I could see the speed of either Frattin or Kesel working with Nash.
Lupul and Nash on the same line doesn't quite seem right 5on5, but PP they could be lethal on their off wings |

Burke can say what he wants and it's not like he's going to throw his best friend under the bus. Remember last year's asg poll for least favourable coach to play for? What players show on the ice speaks volumes about the coaching abilities. If our team is failing then you start with a coach. If it persist then you more players. In San Jose he had a star filled team. He can't make this team perform better defensivelly even though on paper we have one of the best cores out there. |

that's a pretty tough argument for an agent to sell.
Ribeiro is also a playmaker, Grabs is not. They are very different players....
that said it's all kind of moot because Ribeiro signed his contract 4 yrs ago. wouldn;t even be considered as a comparable. |

oh don't get me wrong, I didn't say he shouldn't be fired , in fact that ship probably sailed a year ago, you said he would deter top notch players from signing in T.O that, I disagree with...there 's been alot worst personalities out there than old ronnie, and they've been able to land the big fish |
