Didn't they give up a second rounder for him when he was wasting away in Montreal?? Gotta think his value has increased substantially since then. - Cimo
Absolutely has. I would keep this guy an resign him to a good contract. If he surpases his last years totalls then he deserves the 4-5 mill he'll be asking but I have a feeling he won't ask for a King's ransom since he loves Toronto and would rather stay here and keep building his name. The only trade I would wanto to happen is for someone like Stastny or Getz (almost impossible) or another top quality 1st line centre.
If we took in Nash, that means Lupul gets bumped down to the 2nd line, or Nash plays the second line. Now Im not saying Im against having Nash on the second line, however where the problem is for me, is that we only have so many assets we can afford to move right now to improve this team, and those should be used to get a centerman.
Nash will cost a decent amount from us, and once those assets are gone, we likely wont have too much left to make a move for a legit centerman without causing problems. What we can afford to do, imo, is move assets to get a legit centerman and a 2nd line grinder who can also put up points. But thats about it. - noename09
I'm sure I will take heat for this but..... I would want Carter insted trade a package for him and then trade schenn for jvr
So then lupul-bozak-kessel
Jvr-Carter-kulie
That's a good 1-2 punch give us a big centre
And the fact is bozak plays well with those guys
And this playmaker for kessel thing is bugging me kessel is becoming a very good passer and lupul is a good one as well .... How meany more goals would kessel really have right now with a play making centre?
Howson "Yup and all it cost was our 1st and one of our top young players, so how about your first and Schenn?"
BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP - AdamFrench
The truth is, he is a pretty low risk for the leafs. If he gets injured just put him on the LTIR and he is off the cap and all he costs is dollars. It is definitely quite possible that he produces well into his 30s. Remember this big center we got in the 90s? he was quite productive well into his 30s

Kessel NEEDS a guy who can defend him....he needs a grittier guy on his line because of late hes been getting pushed around etc...Bozak dosnt cut it on the first line for me...

sorry
The Leafs will likely compete, and compete hard for the Stanley Cup this year as they are one of the most dominant teams in the league, and need to bring their city another Stanley Cup as its been about 10 years since their last.
