I think they were just referring to the deal that was posted.

Plus I bet Dregger is saying that to take media attention away from TOR/CBJ should a trade be in the works.

- mfreedman

You think Dreger is on the leafs payroll?

Montoya still not 100% apparently.
Isles have been offered a pick for Nabby....according to Chris Botta.

Also - I think that IF Nash was available (which i don't think is the case) he would be involved with another franchise player i.e Stall/Getzlaf/Perry/Etc. There are alot of teams out there who could offer a better package.
- steve362

people always say that, but look at the package it took to get Phaneuf. He was rumored to be available forever and Burke landed him for a bag of pucks and a hot dog vendor. It appears that many GMs are very hesitant to make a high profile move

But we don't want Nash.

We want a centre.

- Atomic Wedgie

Speak for your self I want Nash..... I just don't think us give up that much is a good idea.... But dumping Komi and getting Nash kinda makes me hard

Phaneuf is not Rick Nash. He's their Captain and face of the franchise. They have no reason to move him. Not like they are committing to Carter instead.

Nash is only being talked about because Burke says he's looking for top 6 forward with size, and Rick Nash is the prototypical elite power forward that has been "tied" to Toronto (read by Leaf fans on message boards) for years.

He's not available.

7.8 a year for the next 6 years.

This for a guy who has never had 80 points.

30+ goals are automatic (well, this year not withstanding...)

He'd be ridiculous on a team with offensive support.

Komi for Nash is not going to happen. Brace yourself.

Would I turn down Nash if he was offered for free? Heck no.

But considering the hefty price tag that is attached to Nash, I would much, much rather use those assets to obtain a #1 centre.

That is all.

No, but he is close with Nonis.

I'm sure the relationship works both ways.

Nonis will give him Leafs insider trade information, and when they want him to, they will ask him to distract the fans attention.

Doesn't seem too farfetched to me.

Don't get me wrong. I think he's a good player, but I doubt very seriously that Burke wants anything to do with that contract.

If we took in Nash, that means Lupul gets bumped down to the 2nd line, or Nash plays the second line. Now Im not saying Im against having Nash on the second line, however where the problem is for me, is that we only have so many assets we can afford to move right now to improve this team, and those should be used to get a centerman.

Nash will cost a decent amount from us, and once those assets are gone, we likely wont have too much left to make a move for a legit centerman without causing problems. What we can afford to do, imo, is move assets to get a legit centerman and a 2nd line grinder who can also put up points. But thats about it.

Nash is so overrated, one dimensional, has no heart, and his losing teams year in and year out are a product of him. Look no further then Kovalchuk, although Ilya is better.

I'm greedy I still want him and he plays on a poop team ..... Who knows what he will do if he where to come to Toronto ..... I bet it's easy to lose your love for the game and drive playing in cbj also if he plays on a line with kulie and tiny tim that means the other teams shut down guys are playing head to head with the kessel line and it opens it up for Nash. That being said I don't really think nash will get moved
