Pretty sure the sens would rather have Couturier scoring 20 goals on their 3rd line than Zibanejad scoring the winning goal at the WJC....

Zibanejad was overhyped and overrated. Couturier was overscouted (rare in the Q) and they began to see the weaknesses in his play.

Scheifele was a reach.

Maybe we wait longer than 50 games to decide this?

Zibanejad is not a bad pick.

But he's not in the NHL this season and Couturier is. And he is doing good.

- Dgrdnr

Agreed, Zibanejad started the season too. But Couturier was the obvious pick, i would have an hard time picking between him and Huberdeau...Strome is a question mark and Scheifele is a no-no to me.

The 18-year old's story has been well documented—Couturier was widely considered the number one prospect in North America and a candidate to be drafted first overall before a bout with mononucleosis stunted his growth, both physically and as a hockey player.

After putting up 96 points in back-to-back seasons with Drummondville in the QMJHL, Couturier slipped in the draft and ended up in Philadelphia, who days earlier acquired the eighth overall pick from the Columbus Blue Jackets (along with Jakub Voracek) for Jeff Carter.

My mind has always been clear in this. Couturier is the better player and will always remain so. Zibanejad is more physical but that's it.

Couturier is 6'4, great on both sides of the ice. Plays PK and PP for the flies as a 19 yo on a better flyers team than the sens.

Where is Zibanejad again? Oh yeah in the SEL.

I would have taken Hamilton at that pick though both slipped.

He is also neglecting the fact that the Sens didn't want to waste a year on Zibanejad's contract on what they thought would be a bad season for the team.

That's like making fun on the leafs because their top scorers are no longer in the top 5.
