Come to think of it, comparing Dmen salaries to forwards' is kind of awkward... AK could make 3.5-4.25 per annum on his next contract, all depends on the where and the contract duration, if he wants stay here and management wants to keep him, they had better do it before he hits UFA or he's going to sign a bloated contract.

If he hits UFA and is offered a big contract, and the Habs offer the same thing and he signs here it would GM suicide.

AK said he wants to stay in Montreal. He'll take a pay cut to make it happen.

Don't sell that to me, not my idea and yes i would never compare Forwards with dmen or dmen with goalies, makes zero sense. All we can think is AK could get 4,25-4,5 on the market would he become an UFA july 1st. And if that's the case, i say pass on him, develop your prospects and keep building via the drafts since we know we have to overpay UFA to bring them in MTL.

I would too, if the management isn't sure about him then go with a 7M for 2 years. But it looks to be far fetched to believe that

I like the two yr option better. Keep him hungry

What is with your obsession with buying and selling of opinions? You won't buy mine, demanding that he doesn't sell you his...do you have some sort of opinion-surplus?

Yep, and if he delivers then go for a 4 years 4-4,5M. That would be my strategy.
