Clarke MacArthur has similar stats and makes 3.25, so AK should make about 3.75
- RENATO6

MacArthur has one season of similar stats. Kostitsyn has several.

You think he would take less money than Kaberle
- pete26

Even if he is on the downslope of his career (and definetly not worth that money) he did more in this league than AK did. You can't offer players contract based on their potential. Stats wise, AK doesn't deserve 4M$ per season so far...

I don't think he will take a cut from the $3.2M he is currently making, I can see a slight raise... the only dumb people are those that think he will give Montreal a discount

Aside from comparables, that's pretty much the only rule when dishing out FA contracts.

If you look at his stats he should not make more than $3.75 despite what others are making. Kaberle has also been in the league for a lot longer.. should AK be making less than half of what Gomez/ Cammy makes?. Should Ak make a lot more than Bourque does??

Every team has horrible contracts

Easy there, Galileo. You are basing your argument on a combination of Gorges' play THIS year vs. your projection of what AK "may be" NEXT year? Really? Talk about comparing apples to dog turds.
- 3M

He was on 3rd last year and would Gionta be healthy he could surely be on 3rd this year. Besides, AK is a 20 goals scorer and i am not reporting that he said he would get less. I said based on that statement. Didn't want to hurt your feelins today bud

Anywhere between 3-4 per, for 4 years, I'd be fine with. He's a good player, with an upside, just needs to have his buttons pushed, and a pat on the back every now and then.

Come to think of it, comparing Dmen salaries to forwards' is kind of awkward... AK could make 3.5-4.25 per annum on his next contract, all depends on the where and the contract duration, if he wants stay here and management wants to keep him, they had better do it before he hits UFA or he's going to sign a bloated contract.

If he hits UFA and is offered a big contract, and the Habs offer the same thing and he signs here it would GM suicide.

I would too, if the management isn't sure about him then go with a 7M for 2 years. But it looks to be far fetched to believe that
