Who cares?

He's just better because..... because....hmmmm... Because he's just better and there's no point arguing about it. That's it, that's all.

I loved him, thought the savard trade was awful, even at the time. What makes him a coach?
- habby

He does know how to play D and I think PK will look up to him.

Actually, that has a lot to do with it...Seriously. Becasue he's black and draws attention to himself he'll get criticized...A guy like Iginla gets a pass becasue (he's lighter brown and) he conforms to the hockey world's vision of how a MAN should act on the ice (which is different from how PK acts).

Kadri wasn't a great example but was the only one that came to mind. Maybe the press box is the way to go...to start.
- yemrots

I think the point being made is that PK already knows that he's an NHLer. Last year, the press box was effective because he still had doubts, especially with all the vets in the room. At this point, sending him down to the AHL or the pressbox would be ineffective because PK can still look around the room and know that they can't keep him there for a long period. For this reason, deserved ice-time is the way to go. Make him earn every minute, because it's the only "real" weapon any coaching staff really has left against him. Kadri hasn't proven much yet, so those other options work.

He will spend more time in the locker room for sure. I think he also imagines himself to be a very hands-on GM

Can you imagine all the 1 on 1, closed door meetings if McGuire becomes GM.

Is this a good thing?

Don't get me wrong, Chelios was a solid player, but he seemed to always be a selfish guy, and really, isn't that what we are complaining about in PK's case?

We might as well sign him 'cos I don't see anyone giving much for an enigmatic UFA...

I think we should sign him too. No one will give up anything significant and his chemistry with Eller is interesting.
