The Good

Cole signing.

Showing patience with Price, Pacioretty.

He's giving Subban, Desharnais, Eller, Emelin and Diaz room to grow into NHLers.

He managed to get rid of the Cammalleri contract (offsets the horrible Kaberle trade)

Gionta still holds value.

The bad

He picked Gill over Hamrlik which wasn't the best choice, but not many people criticized the move last summer.

He also picked Markov over Wisniewski. While that hasn't worked, I don't think the coin and term given to Wisniewski would have been appreciated here. To suggest he knew that Markov would have two set backs is a little stupid.

Gomez was terrible.

Questionable draft picks but some good ones on the horizon (it seems).

Again, he's far from my favourite but to say that he's a terrible GM is exaggerated. It's a season where everything that could go bad has gone bad. With such a young team, they don't have the experience to bounce back from this type of season.

Markov and Kaberle are both enough for him to be fired IMO, I wouldn't have resigned Wiz at that term or money.

Cole signing...yes. I'll give you that.

Giving Price, Pacioretty and the rest of the young guys room and patience? A) Did he have a choice and B) don't all GM's do that with there young talent?

Is Bourque's contract any better than Cammy's?

What value does Gionta have? He was on pace for 40 points this year to go along with his previous two seasons of 46 points. For 5 mill a year?

No, he needs to grow up.
But look at how dramatic the turnaround was for Price a few years back...he grew up in a hurry...

- number_23

Agreed, but that's the case for almost every 22 year old defenseman. It’s the teams fault for constructing a group that required him to lead the team in minutes, he should have been 3rd or 4th.

Unforgivable. The kiss of death. Both Canadiens doctors told Gauthier not to sign Markov and that he would not play this year. Both Doctors for crying out loud.

There maybe better then him, but he is definitely better then Gaithier.

McGuire better than Gauthier? How do you know? What is his track record as a GM? I hate Gauthier but McGuire has done nothing to prove he can do this job in the last 10 years. Sine 1996, he's been working TV coverage....

I'm ok with the Markov signing...the problem was not having a contigency plan, and then winging one which included trading for Kaberle.

I wouldn't of signed Wiz for the term and $$$...

Half the price, but one more year. I'd say it's better.

Who cares?

He's just better because..... because....hmmmm... Because he's just better and there's no point arguing about it. That's it, that's all.

I was too last summer, I wouldn't say I'm still happy about it.

Yeah but you are mixing things up...the performance on the ice, the habs lack of a plan to cover their ass in case Markov wasn't available have nothing to do with his immaturity...and most are not overly critical of his play, they are of his antics.

The opposite of this is true as well. We have no clue, doesn't mean we know if he'd be good or bad.

Agreed with the bolded, but I chalk it up as a 2nd year player being used the wrong way. I blame the team more than i blame him.
- habby

OK but how do you explain the fighting with teammates and coaches in practice?

Why does it always involve him?

His "antics" were worse last year, I find he tries to do too much, which he'll learn not too. I think people need to relax about PK.

Because he's 22 and placed in the position of being the #1 D on a team with a horrible group of defensemen. I'm not saying that he doesn't have to change, but that it's easy to blame him too.

I agree with you on the youth thing but he needs to grow up.

Send him down for a couple of weeks....give his ego a check.

Agreed, but I'd keep him up here and cut his ice-time. Sending him to the AHL would be pointless.
