It would take waaaay more than Nabby to get Suter even as a rental.. waaay more. (I would make that move in a NY minute.. here u can have Eaton too)
- niteislander

Agreed! This is why it won't happen. The Isles don't have a willingness (rightfully so) to move the impact prospects it would take to get Suter. IMO, any return we get for Nabby will be in the form of a draft pick.

If he makes it to July 1st I'd throw the book at him (the checkbook, of course).

Then it will become a Paul Martin redeux?

See now if snow was a real GM he would trade Nabby along with Frans and maybe PAP and get a bigger return then another draft pick who will do absolutely nothing for this organization.

Better than not trying, IMO. I'd offer him 8 years $60 mil. $7.5 per year (avg), and it expires when he's 35 so it won't become a cap burden. Hell, I'd even throw in big signing bonus. If he turns it down we're no worse.

I am friggin pathetic... I saw that Phx recalled a d-man from AHL and now I am praying we are making a blockbuster for Yandle. I need to stop looking at hockey sht and get back to work. We are more likely to get Aucoin than YAndle.

Agreed, it can't hurt to try and past history (Martin & Ehrhoff) would suggest they just may do that. I also fully expect that until the Isles actually make the playoffs, they'll be met with frustration in each following offseason.

Ek is 100% on the mark if you take the Costanza 'do the opposite' approach. Now that the Isles haven't been mentioned on his rumor chart, you can almost bet somethings in the works!

Definitely agree. But hey better to swing for the fences. I'd rather look stupid because a free agent blew us off than look incompetent because we didn't even try.

It will be a draft pick(s) for Nabokov. Playoff teams aren't in the business of trading roster players for a several month rental insurance policy. It's either a low level project-player prospect, or a draft pick. Frankly, I'd rather the draft pick. At least you have the chance of finding a mid-late round gem, rather than knowing that you're getting an AHL player.

you wouldnt give up prospects for an established top 2 dman???

before you answer that question, let me just remind you of this......

pros·pect   [pros-pekt] noun

1. Usually, prospects.
a.an apparent probability of advancement, success, profit, etc.
b. the outlook for the future: good business prospects.
2. anticipation; expectation; a looking forward.
3. something in view as a source of profit.
4. a potential or likely customer, client, etc.
5. a potential or likely candidate.

Well, they've got to TRY at least. Problem is it does become an infecting issue. If multiple players continually turn the Isles down, you have to wonder how many other players don't even give us a thought based on those rejections. Tavares going to the all star game was great PR for this team. Success would be even better.

It's the TYPE of prospects I'm assuming it would take to land Suter that would make it a problem for me. I'm not interested in seeing the team deal a Strome or Nino type prospect for him and I think that's what it would take if we're talking about grabbing Suter with a contract. "IF" they were willing to trade him to us, I don't think they'd be satisfied with say Rhett.

*The Rhett reference is sarcasm

Hopefully rolston is scratched tomorrow. If that's the case then great. It will actually show the fan base hat they give a poop
- Isles316

Ullstrom is back but he getting his timing and legs back. Rhett, Cizakis and Poulin are hottest players right now. Cizakis playing in ahl all star game.

I can only dream that Rolston gets Scratched for game. And that we win that game 4-0 with Bailey, Martin and (rhett, Nino) line being responsible for all the goals. This way maybe Rolston gets benched permenently

Wishful thinking. What would really happen is Rolston would get promoted to play with Tavares for being so good on the bench in following game vs Ottawa.

why are you guys even mentioning Nabby to Nashville? Nasville has Pekke Rinne and that kid Lindberg. last thing they need is goalie.

If Yandle was to be traded to the Islanders, don't you think Streit would be one of the Islanders going back to Phoenix along with the #1 and either a prospect or Neilsen?

If you read back, I've never entertained the idea that I thought this was possible. We're merely playing the 'what if' game here. I think most people realize that Nabokov will only bring a pick back...don't worry..Bailey's safe.

Funny thing why are we getting all excited about this. We all know nothing is going to happen. I mean it is good hockey chat for once but lets be reasonable here we are talking about Snow. He is frigid when it comes to trades and sits there and says he tried his hardest just to come up with nothing

Here is what's going to happen. The Isles Trade Nabby for a 3 rd pick. The Isles trade for Willie Yandle Keith's brother playing for the Ft. Lauderdale Sting of the ECBL ( East Coast Beer League) They won't trade PAP & Frans (Snow will say he didn't like any of the offers) Come the summer they will both leave as UFA'S. All the other nonsense about real trades can stop now.

Problem is, we all get so wrapped up in considering what players/prospects of ours would be worthy of getting a decent player, we rarely actually ponder whether the other team has any real intention to trade said player.
In the case of Nashville, they are presently 3 points out of the lead for their conference. There's simply no way they'd entertain the idea of dealing Suter to us. Unless we're talking about a team desperately looking to unload contract which at this time of the year is ulikely, getting an impact player for impact players is more than just a rarity.

bc the 4th round pick you would get for him now is heavily outweighed by the potential he has when playing with marginally talented wingers
