Maybe because of the AHL Allstar game and Bridgeport doesn't play until Friday?
- Downeaster

Nah I am going to go with option C. Remember this is the Islanders nothing ever makes sense when they make moves

This has to be b/c they are trading some people. Betteman asked all teams to wait till after the all star game to make any trades. He essentially put some moves on hold so they would not take away from the All star festivities. If there are moves today and Garth isn't one of them.. I give up.
- niteislander

hahahah why??? -- whats so special about today? the trade deadline? what if he doesnt make a move today but makes a move tomorrow?? why is today the last straw?

if you bought 2 stocks (1 share each) Stock "A" for $100 and Stock "B" for $100.

stock "A" plummets to $20/share-- would you sell and lose $80 or hold it and hope to make some, if not all, of your money back down the line?

stock "B" soars to $175/share-- would you sell and make a $75 profit or hold onto it and hope it continues rising?

- LetsGoIsles

I wasn't arguing against trading PAP, I'm all for it for the right deal. I was pointing out that the same thing you knock PA for, is the reason your saying Bailey somehow deserves a shot on a better line, like he's earned a thing.

And if Stock A is going to continue plummeting below $20/share over the next year, I'm going to cut my losses and say "oh well, can't win them all" and walk away like any good investor does. I'd also probably be happy that I hedged my losses by also owning a share of Stock B, which thankfully has exceeded and totally offset my losses on the poor investment in Stock A. In fact, Stock B wasn't purchased for $100/share, it was a penny stock that cost nothing. Whereas, while Stock A did not cost any tangible assets, I did pass on other very valuable investment opportunities that were "purchased" after I bought Stock A.

You can certainly sell Stock B high and that would be fantastic. But since you paid next to nothing for that stock, it won't be the end of the world if you do hang onto it and see where it goes. Frankly, I would be happy with either, being especially happy if another investor would like to purchase Stock B for more than the $175/share it's currently trading at.

http://www.ottawasun.com/...snt-plan-to-talk-contract Suter saying he is not going to negotiate a new contract. That means he is going to be traded...etc.

Not sure why anyone would be excited about this for the islanders. All it would mean is we trade players, prospects and / or Pick to have a guy on team for 3 months b/c he will not sign long term on the island. ... ryan Smyth 2.

Which is totally fine, nothing wrong with disagreeing. To me my "stop-loss' on Bailey kicks in after next year. If he finds the right role on this team and there's a spot for him, that's fantastic. But this team is only going to get deeper at center (and the forward position in general) moving ahead. It may not be a case of Josh being a bad hockey player, it may just be that there are guys that are better than him on the team and on their way.

He said he's not talking contract until the season ends. Not he doesn't want to negotiate with Nashville at all. They have a decision to make, but he's not definitely going to be traded.

I happen to agree. If you gave me the choice, after next year I'd offer him a 2-way deal, at or below his current salary/cap hit, with the understanding that he will be sent to Bridgeport and not recalled unless there is an injury or someone's game goes to absolute hell. Don't want the 2-way? See ya thanks for your time.

Don't see that happening either. First off, the Isles wouldn't trade Nabby for another rental. Therefore they'd only take Suter if he signed an extension which he'd be far more likely to just do with Nashville. We'll see.

Their GM has said many times that if he can't come to a contract aggreement with him before the trade deadline he would entertain trades. He would be an idiot not to... He risks letting him go via free agency for nothing.

It would take waaaay more than Nabby to get Suter even as a rental.. waaay more. (I would make that move in a NY minute.. here u can have Eaton too)

Sure he'll definitely entertain offers, and no doubt there will be plenty. In fact if there isn't 29 of them I'd be surprised, everyone could use a player like Suter. Poile is a fantastic GM, he's not going to get low-balled and give him away for crap.

if suter is being shopped there will be a huge price tag....having said that, if the isles are somehow making a push for it, i GUARANTEE a contract extension would be included in the deal. the difference between this season and the ryan smith deal is that the isles were contending. any BIG PLAYER trade that may happen are with 2012-2013 in mind
