Sure it was the right move to bring him back. One of the main problems was the disarray with the short offseason and having a another new DC. Now with Juan back, there will be stability and guys wont have to learn a new system again.

In the end this time next year they'll be hiring a new HC.

You know, I'm going to have to beleive it to see it. I feel that if they make the playoffs next Season, Reid stays.

The Eagles lost because they didn't protect the football. The defense had its issues, but turnovers killed this team.

I hate the Iggles, but it is what it is. If they protected the football better it might be them we are watching next week.

Problem is, with Vick at QB, I don't know if that can actually happen or not.

If you follow the commentary of the two most knowledgeable local experts on the Eagles, Brian Baldinger and Ray Didinger. The Eagles had far more problems then just turnovers. Baldinger and Didinger picked the Eagles defense apart, even in the last 4 games when they supposedly improved defensively. The same problems and weaknesses were there as previously. Only thing was the opposition wasn't good enough to take advantage.

He said in his post that the defense had issues.. and it was clear that they did.

but he said he felt that turnovers were the main factor in the terrible season. I feel the same way.

Certainly turnovers were a huge factor. They always are. And if the Eagles had held on to one 4th Quarter lead, they make the playoffs. I don't know about you, but I'm looking at the big picture. And that's winning a Super Bowl. Now I know some we'll say that anything can happen in the playoffs. Look at the Giants. But they are playing with a big time big game QB in Eli Manning. I don't see the Eagles doing what they did.

Here's a good read.

With the key sentence from that article!

"“They can sugarcoat it all they want, but if they really think they are ready to play at the level of the elite teams, they’re delusional.”

you keep referring to this. It's all valid..but then again.. what are they really saying? that an 8-8 team *gasp* had issues? of course they did. you dont get to 8-8 if you dont have problems.

I dont put any stock into the last 4 meaningless games anyway.

This is all true. But thier #1 issue was holding on to the football. Baldinger and Didinger know their stuff, and I am pretty sure they will tell you the same thing. The only team that ever turned the football over more than this years Eagles team that had any success where those Warner led Rams.

The history is there. There is no more important stat than turnovers in the NFL. Good teams hold on to the football. This exposed the Iggles defense after the fact.

No doubt the defense had issues, no doubt they did not use their personnel correctly. They are weak at linebacker and safety. And Castillo needs to adjust that or be gone. But no matter what he does, if the offense turns the ball over with the proclivity of last years team, they have no shot to do anything. That is the law of football.

Yes, I do keep referring to that. So they are going to make a miraculous jump to being a Super Bowl team next year? By doing the same thing again, in bringing Castillo back? That the Eagles mantra. Keep doing the same thing, and eventually it will break our way. Going on 13 years now, doing the same thing. What's going to change?

I agree with that. Even the top teams will not win if they turn the ball over. But I'm looking big picture here. And looking at every thing. I think if, not saying you do, that you think this team is Super Bowl quality if it just doesn't turn over the ball, your kidding yourself.

tons of people picked them to go to the super bowl in the preseason.

do some tweeking, limit the turnovers, address some of the defensive issues... and yes i fully think its possible to reach the super bowl.

and enough with the angeloisms please

did they not shake it up and bring in Mudd and Washburn? Did andy - the most conceited man in the world - not admit a mistake by bringing Babin back? Did they not ship out McNabb at the exact right time and wisely choose Vick over Kolb? Did they not surprise everyone and go get TO in 04?

you act like they just stand pat and dont try to win.

I agree with what you are saying. Juan doesnt give his team a chance to win with the big boys. I read every post Didinger put up and like you said on every occasion guys were walking to the play, seemed uninterested with what was going on, and more than a few times guys would look lost or would play in a positon that they should not of been playing in, I.E. Ashomungra playing zone when he is a man to man guy, and next year I expect more of thsame from this eagles team. Spags should of been signed when the eagles had a chance.

Well unfortunately, they don't hand out the Lombardi Trophy in the Pre Season. Nor do they hand it out when Joe Banner says they have the best team. Or when Vince Young says they're the "Dream Team"

This has nothing to do with Angelo Cataldi. This is my opinion.

Oh, they really shaked it up all right. This is the same misguided outlook that the Eagles have. That's why they haven't won!
I laughed my ass off when they signed Vick to that deal.

They try and win under their owned failed formula, of playing games with the Cap, of this position isn't important. We only pay so much for that position. And all the other nonsense. They don't go all the way. They never have.

It's the same thing, over and over, and over.

Here is exhibit A. Brian Dawkins. Joe Banner said we can't pay him what he wants. He's too old. And Reid didn't stand up. If I was the Coach, Dawkins is resigned. The Eagles fail to recognize what leadership, character, and integrity means on the feild. What happened in the begining of the Season. With players quitting on the defensive side of the ball. Would have never happened with Dawkins on the team.

As soon as NO called they didn't have a prayer. NO's offense is in good shape. They clearly were let down by their D. He was hired to come in and do what is necessary, his decision on style and input in assts. He would have to go with 9 wide here and have no input into assts. It was a no brainer.

And it was Banner, not Angelo, who pulled out the old saw, "Insanity is doing the same thing over and over expecting a different result."
