Homer said Luke is headed back to Roch. for Tuesday - sabresfandan
If thats the case then that sucks. Pommer and Vanek were 2 and 3 in scoring when Adam was their center. Then Lindy moved him off that line. Not that Adam is a #1 center in this league but it was working. I 've been waiting for that line to come back since Lindy broke them up. |

You would need a real NHL GM for that! - Irish 14
from Buff News:
OTTAWA — It sure sounded like an insult when Brian Burke said last month that Darcy Regier is "really unreasonable" while talking trades. The Toronto general manager said Saturday that wasn't case.
Burke has not chatted with Buffalo's GM since saying the two talk different languages about players during trade conversations. The silence shouldn't be interpreted as hard feelings.
"It wasn't a shot at him anyhow," Burke said after the board of governors meeting. "It's just like trying to make a trade with a guy that's speaking Persian and you're speaking English. We made one trade, we made the Dominic Moore trade, so we made one trade. Some guys are trading partners and some guys aren't.
"I could never get on the same page with him as far as what players are worth, which means one of two things: Either he's [messed] up or I'm [messed] up. Or maybe we're both [messed] up."Burke used a loud profanity rather than "messed," drawing laughs and attention from nearby observers.
Dear Brian Burke,
you are not the one that is [messed] up

To even try to bring up the names of Lemieux, Gretzky, Orr, and Howe to anything related to this years Sabres is an insult to every fans intelligence.
Pathetic. - Gunner Staal
Moronic statements like that from Black are going to lead to a whole lot more empty seats at First Niagara next season. Sabres fans are sick of Regier, Ruff and most of the so-called "core". They had their shot and it is clearly not working.
Amazing how fast the bloom has worn off the Pegula rose. |

Pegula has the billions to withstand it, but with no playoff dates this spring I imagine the Sabres are going to be drowning in red for this season. |

I agree 100% I like Leino I don't know why everybody wants to run him out of town. Sure we may have overpaid him a little bit but thats what the market price was so we live with it but I couldn't agree more with putting him around more talent. - sabresfandan
he really doesnt wanan play center, almost refusing at time. His teammates don't like him and he doesn't like it here. Not my opinion, what I've been told.
Tha Sabres have decided he is a third liner here, nothing more and that's how they are going to deal with him. Bad investment and they know it. |

NHL exec tells me other day, paraphrasing: Regier has no excuse for not returning phone calls and GMs are quietly laughing at #sabres now.

Then this team is more messed up than ever.
I hate this "team".
It's going to take us years to dig out of this mess. So much for your grand plan, Terry.

So here's where it doesn't add up...
Last yr's Flyers team was loaded with talent @ forward.
This yr's Sabres team has 2 forwards who are producing.
Yet for them, Leino is a second line winger and for us he's a third line winger. Is Leino really underachieving to a greater degree than Stafford, Ennis, Roy, Gerbe, or Boyes?
They are all potential 20g guys who havent showed up this season. You could easily trade Stafford or Eniis and let Leino fill their 2nd line role. What are those guys giving you anyways? |

Yeah I saw that. Two periods. Lindy should have left that line alone. It would have been healthy almost all year. |

However, if what Homer says is true, then they'd better be trying to unload Leino.
Perhaps they can convince some playoff team to look at his playoff record the past couple of years, and take a flier on him.
Leino for Colin Wilson

Heck, to get out from under his deal I'd throw in a draft pick with Leino and take nothing back in return. |

He's eating the contract already now.

If the guy truly isn't liked, and he hates it here, then getting a 2nd or 3rd rounder in return would be a coup.
Plus it frees up another $4.5 mil in cap space, which we desperately need going into next year. |

Good possibility.
I don't know why Ruff doesn't just ride his "best" offensive players. What does he have to lose at this point? Leino has shown he can produce. Give him the opportunity to fall on his face himself.
Play Van and Leino 20 minutes a game. |

So what have we learned here kids?
1) Black is insulting the all time greats
2) Regier speaks Persian
3) Adam will get sent down which leaves us with two centers
4) Leino hates it here and his teammates despise him
sounds about right.....
I can't wait for tomorrow. |

(tomorrow comes)
1) The sabres hire Larry Quinn back (Pegula loves old Sabres-even old Sabres management), this time as assistant GM
2) Darcy trades Cody McCormick to Toronto (Burke took a crash-course in Persian over the weekend) for a 7th round pick in the 2032 draft
3) Corey McIntyre, even though he's a goalie, called up from Rochester to fill McCormick's role as team "enforcer"
4) Roy, Stafford, Gaustad, Miller and Boyes hate it here, and whatever teammates are left despise them, too.
Can't wait for the day after tomorrow. |
