I agree with the point in bold. The rest I do not. His long tenure has nothing to do with his job performance. It's no secret that he simply does not/has not returned phone calls from other GM's.

Beyond making a few shrewd deals (Briere of course comes to mind) I think he's been a giant disappointment.

Just my opinion.

- Pairo11

He's been disappointing, I'm not denying that. I want him gone as well, but that doesn't mean that's his reputation around the league. He has put some good teams on the ice, though not for a while. That will get him another job somewhere. That doesn't mean he should, but he will. The NHL is a fraternity. Once you're "in", unless you fall completely flat on your face (i.e. Milbury), there will always be a spot for you somewhere.

I think Lindy is starting to lose some of his luster across the league. I think he's starting to get exposed

I never understood why people overrated him so much to begin with

- RayHatesDomi

1 cup finals
4 ecf's
presidents trophy

14 seasons

I am ok going to the ECF's once every 3 1/2 seasons since it happened twice?? before Ruff became coach

Lindy is part of the problem, darcy is a much bigger problem IMO
Darcy ran Hasek out of town and destroyed a team that won the presidents trophy in another off season

Sorry man.. Side note: my friend and I used to laugh our asses off because whenever Dixon Ward had the puck he'd make all these slick little moves in open ice and then as soon as he got in traffic the defenseman would simply swipe the puck away.

He could NEVER finish..

- Pairo11

No worries.......

Lindy seems to hold every player back, guys come to this team via FA or a trade and they can't fit in. Guys like Roy and Vanek could be better players if Lindy would just let them play, he holds guy's back IMO. Vanek, Roy, Boyes, Staff just to name a few, those guys are goal scorer's.

Darcy is always known for trading for a 2nd round pick on the TDL!

It's bad when breaking down the x's and o's of the all star game is probably more fun than Darcy talk.

I would trade Boyes for a dead guy but would be worried that we were getting too much in return.

I don't think that Lindy is the 2nd coming of Toe Blake or anything but I think he's a good coach. I feel pretty confident that the rest of the league feels the same way.

Aside from a handful of talented players (Briere, Drury, ?) he's had to ice a team full of Brian Holzingers, Derek Plantes, Curtis Browns and Dixon Wards. Lindy has never had that elite, perennial All-Star (or two) aside from Hasek.

That's the problem with the current roster. Vanek and Pommer are the only forwards that have NHL hands. The rest are 3rd/4th liners on most other rosters.

- Pairo11

Quick fact - Ruff has only won 5 playoff rounds without Dominik Hasek. Hasek has been gone for 12 years.

I like what CBC is doing with the mic'd up and letting Lupul and Hartnell do the play by play.

I haven't seen what NBC Sports Network is doing.

Darcy Regier is more respected than you think. The fact that his tenure is so long gives him a lot of street cred as well. The Brian Burke comments don't mean that he thinks he's bad at his job. There are a lot of people that have reputations for being good at their jobs (deserved or undeserved), and not being pleasant human beings to deal with. If/when Regier is fired, he will get hired by someone else. He's not going to be in the unemployment line.
- buffalofan19

His longevity at his job only shows that there hasn't been any accountability in this organization in a long time.

Lindy and Darcy have never worked for an owner that cared about winning. The Rigas family didn't. When the NHL ran the team, they were just worried about keeping it afloat. When Tommy G ran the team, he just wanted to break even.

This is the 1st year Darcy and Lindy have had any real pressure and they have both crumbled.

I know he hasn't had a cast of all-stars but he has had some pretty good players over the years.

Peca, Audette, Sanderson, Dumont, Barnes, Andreychuk, Zhitnik, Campbell, Gilmour, Connolly, Woolley. Some had good years, others underperformed under Ruff. That's not always just the player's fault.

I know we all hate Derek Roy but, he isn't a 3rd liner
