The breakaway challenge is just really stupid in my opinion. Players trying to do incredibly difficult things with the puck that they would never attempt or is illegal to attempt in a game. I'd much rather see some of the sweet "real" moves like the ones Giroux has shown, then that nonsense.

Good lord, Gary Thorne is a bowling announcer for ESPN now? WTF? How is this guy not calling hockey games somewhere? I know he works for MASN and broadcasts Orioles games, (must be exciting announcing 100 losses every year) I would love to see the Flyers hire him to replace Jim Jackson. How great would it be to have Thorne and Clement calling all the Flyers games?

I loved it, the Flyers seem like a close team.

I had hockey this morning, the guys on my team were all very impressed with Cooter and Read last night.

I think Hartnell should have said that salute is for my linemate Jagr and Mike Rupp who are on equal standing as future HOF'ers.

Jackson has been with the Flyers for what 17 years now? He's gotten stale imo, I really like Thorne and Clement when they did games on ESPN. I think Jones is better suited to do studio work as opposed to color analysis.

dead on. my prob w/ Jackson is that he's too wordy...doesn't let the atmosphere of the game in enough. Thorne, Dan Kelly and gene hart are my 3 all-time fave announcers. I think hughson is the best right now.

Hughson is very good. HNIC is fantastic. I love watching games he is doing. I agree with regard to Jackson, he doesn't let the game breathe. He's talking every second.

I don't think Jackson is terrible in the class of Edwards, Steigerwald or that ilk, I just think he has run his course.

I also enjoyed Peter Loubardias, the former Calgary Flames PxP man, when I had NHL Center Ice last season.

If he went back to the way he called games on the radio - you know, actual play by play - and stopped opining, he'd be great. Let Coatesy/Jonesy/Clement opine - that's their job.

I'm not really familiar with his radio work, but yes, he is trying to be a hybrid PBP, and color guy. He really annoys me now to the point I usually enjoy the opposition telecast more depending on opponent.

I'd like Dave Strader but that won't happen.

Stader is very good. He left the Yotes, I think he will be the # 1 guy on NBC once Emrick retires. Still the NBC guys usually only do one game a week, you would think Strader would like to catch on with a team. I would think there would be a lot of interest in him.

He could but then again being the main guy on NBC and not doing all the travel with the team is a nice gig if you can get it.

Absolutely. Emrick left the Devils because he is now 65 years old, that much travel at that age has to be taxing, Stader is still fairly young, 52 and I'm sure he would like to make more money and broadcast more games.

These 4 games in 6 days for the Flyers right out of the break are going to provide an interesting test. Flyers are a combined 0-6-0 against three of the four teams. (Jets, Preds, Rags).

Can't see them winning any of those games.. I only hope Hartnell fights Rupp and gets that smug bastard.. Shelley should also fight Dubinsky.
