There would have to be some salary going the other way. If im the kings im trying to dump off penner in there just for the hell of it. CBJ deserves penner. Maybe we throw in Hickey and maybe rights to moller.
- poisondhearts37

Penner is a UFA this summer so they might take him if there's something else there of quality along with Bernier.

I don't think Buffalo really wants to move Roy, they need him to play better. They really can't afford to give him away, don't have much down the middle as it is. Gaustad is UFA, Hecht is hurt, Leino doesn't want to play center and they have a million injuries.

To move Roy they need a center back who's at least as good.

All of your points are fair and true, but Buffalo is better off without him. Addition by subtraction.

I don't know if he's got other issues but he was a pretty darn good player at one time, before the bad injury I guess. Who do you replace him with internally.

Still is a good player. Could be even better if he wanted to be. He is not very well liked by the rest of the Buffalo team.

He is a partier with a low level of competitiveness. Last year while he was injured, Buffalo actually improved record wise and made the playoffs.

You are correct in saying that there really is nothing to replace him, but Buffalo has been trying to trade him. Darcy just will not accept not winning a trade...

It's all gonna depend on who or what they can get for him. Sometimes guys just need a change of scenery and it seems like Roy has hit a wall in Buffalo. He's a hell of a player and can consistently put up 70+ points a season on the right team. I just don't think Buffalo is that team.

Detroit could be that team... i'd take him in a second.

Parise makes the most sense for Detroit really...Lidstrom retires frees up money for Parise.

Great franchise....They have the wins, manages money well, manages players well, and most importantly they definitely know how to win the Cup. Everything checks out with Parise's list of wants.

Do you want a player that has said during a game..."Take it easy, it is just a game"?

Buffalo has been trying to trade Roy since last year and nobody has bit. Either everyone knows he is a cancer in the room with no compete level or Darcy is always asking for too much. I would not be surprised at the later...

I'd actually bet on the former. Darcy seems to be a GM who values all his players like they were all-stars the minute someone inquires about them. There is definitely interest in Roy around the league.

The deal's starting to get lopsided. I'm sure CLS can get a better deal than giving up Carter/Sanford + a 3rd for Bernier/Penner. Carter for Bernier straight up is already in LA's favor IMO.

Flames will have to give up a 1st ... and take on Nash's contract (which is reasonable BECAUSE HE IS CANADIANS NEXT GR8 WHITE HOPE) compared to Carters' / PK SUBBAN.

Nash + Carter and CBJ's 1st (Nail)
For
The Flames 1st & Howson/Priest resignation + Jackets moved to Quebec = Win for Oh-I-O

maybe it's just because i have slightly more faith in Feaster than a lot of calgary fans but i don't see him paying the price required for Carter...then again if he had to lose a 1st i could see him saying "i really hate trading 1sts but for a player of this caliber" like he's done when he's given out NTCs and trading 2nds
- S Kaspar Rollins

Agree, Carter wouldnt be the guy I would part a 1st with. I would give Stajan, Backlund & the 1st for Subban & I would eat Gomez's contract for 2 years as well. We are really missing that Phaneuf/Regehr factor on our D & I see Subban doing that. Butler & JBO dont hit anything & Gio & Brodie are our transition dmen but Gio changed his game a bit this year with no Regehr beside him. We need a Subban more than we need a Carter in a rebuild on the fly. But thats just me.

Honestly Parise would be at the top of my list, but how realistic is it? I understand that technically if the Wings pick up no one at the deadline and Lidstrom retires we have about 12.5 mil in cap space. I have a couple of friends that are huge devil fans and very knowledgable hockey fans that say it's very unlikely Parise moves out of NJ. It could be hometown bias but i've had in the back of my head as Parise being one of the more far fetched possibilities.

Yes.. Yes I would. For the same reason i'd take Cammalleri also, both skilled players in bad situations that can offer a lot to a talented contending team. As far as his overall attitude i'm just not that familiar with him behind the scenes, but from the past I like what i've seen and know he has potential to offer.

This summer yes, but Holland will not make a trade for him if the guy is UFA at the end of the year. Too much of a gamble.

Otherwise, I totally agree.

You aren't getting Subban in any package that includes Stajan and Backlund. At a minimum, Giordano would have to be in the package plus other goodies. Calgary just doesn't have the horses to trade to get PK back.

If it matter at all Flames are getting more cap room I think the Flames will make a bid for Carter. I also think the Oilers will make a pitch for Suter.
