Well that's the pits. I was counting on it. In fact, I've already spent what I felt sure was coming. |

I heard Suter put an offer on Federov's house last summer. |

Did you check out the All Star broadcasts? Any time I did and Ryan Suter was on camera he never smiled, in fact looked like "I would rather be anywhere else" miserable. |

I was checking out stats on future FA's on other team websites and noticed several teams have their own skill challenges. Why doesn't the preds do this? I would buy several tickets for the family and this would raise alot of money for the preds foundation. I'm jealous |

Nothing regarding the current situation with Suter makes sense anymore. It's getting more bizarre every day. What in the hell is going on? |

That's what's so strange. Ryan is a genuinely nice guy - friendly and honest to a fault. He's really always been as straight up as they come which is why none of what's happening now makes sense. There's even a solid connection between his uncle, Gary Suter, and Terry Crisp who coached him at Calgary. Wish I knew where his weird feeling of alienation was coming from. We're not imagining it any longer. Something's going on.
Maybe it works out in the end. Gotta stay optimistic and move on no matter what transpires. |

Well...this makes me think. This whole thing is really, really weird the way it is playing out. And Poile's recent comments about "upping" negotiations make me wonder--has Poile been playing hardball and under-valuing Suter in negotiations? Is this why Webs is so upset at the whole thing and bringing up his arbitration? Is Poiile trying to pull the wool over the fans' eyes by "pretending" that all the money is on the table? Just makes me wonder.......... |

My take is no on all counts. Poile went on the air and emphatically stated that the only thing keeping Suter from signing was Suter. He said the money was there and that Suter agreed that the money would be the same, either here or elsewhere. If that wasn't true then Suter would have had ample opportunity to refute what Poile said.

Suter also made sure to reach out to Preds GM David Poile to explain what transpired at All-Star media day Friday. Suter stands by his comment that he’s decided he won’t sign an extension before the Feb. 27 trade deadline, but that’s solely because he feels contract talks would be a distraction hovering over the team. Instead, he says, by shelving contract talks until after the season, he feels he can focus on the team and a playoff race.
Hey, Suter, if you sign the fracking contract the distraction goes away. So, forgive my skepticism while I wait for the real explanation.

Yes it would, however, Suter knows he wants to test the market. Therefore, he knew he wouldn't be signing any extension. By coming out and saying so, he thinks that will stop people from asking about his contract situation, which would eliminate the distractions.
The problem with that is it creates a new distraction. Will he be traded or not.

I totally get that. It's the doublespeak that pisses me off. I would have no problem with him testing the market if he would be up front about it. He's earned that right with his years of practice, conditioning, development, and all the other grinding work a person has to go through to build the skill set required to be an elite NHL defenseman.
Just say something like, "I love Nashville and would love to continue on as a Predator. But you've got to realize I've worked my whole life to get to this point. I owe it to myself and to my family to test the waters and to find out exactly what I'm leaving on the table. That said, if the numbers are close, I'm here to stay."
In today's scripted, PR hack-managed public life that sort of candor is just out of the question. People are so afraid of saying the wrong thing that they never say the right thing.

Sounds like Ryan doesn't want to traded to a non contending team! Suter has been dealing with DP since 2003 and Ryan has to know that DP wants to win the cup more than anybody involved in the preds organization. Sign a two or three year if you are really wanting DP to land the "one piece". Brett Wilson just came on board, cash flow is getting better and there is alot of young talent in the stable. I think the piece to build a cup team will come over the summer but it will take guys like Wilson, Tootoo, and Kostitsyn to stay.
The distraction didn't start till you opened your trap to the national media!!! Funny thing is Suter will take his frustration out on the local media and won't say anything till after the deadline or if he is traded. |

Wouldn't surprise me. A LOT of guys live up in Traverse City in the offseason. Especially a guy like Suter from Wisconsin. |

He wouldn't live there in the offseason though. He's too busy on his farm in Wisconsin riding his tractor. |

Both of our teams stand at 64 pts, Van. with game in hand, but pretty darn close to exactly even. Preds and Vancouver are both good teams capable of going deep in the SCP. Wouldn't you agree? - Fangor
No.
Intimating that NSH and VAN are at the same level of skill or talent is just false. |

Skill and talent won't necessarily win you the Cup (although it doesn't hurt). Look at Columbus and Anaheim. They probably have more skilled/talented players than we do, but are both out of the playoffs. A solid overall team that plays well together can do some good things. |

Don't think it would matter. He's made up his mind that he wants to test the market. The whole "get better players" thing is just a way he can pass some of the criticism (from the fans towards him) back onto management. |

Yeah...that's worked sooo well....Suter has to realize that Nashville and the prevailing media have to know he is in the wrong for even suggesting that positioning Nashville to "get a top scorer or he doesn't sign" is just a smokescreen....definitely not liking Ryan Suter right about now. |
