So, uh...tangent_ma'am loves the Stephanie Plum books by Evanovich, so we went to see One for the Money tonight, and quickly remembered why we don't go to the movies anymore.

$13 and change for a large soda and popcorn combo, $8.50 for the soda alone, and $10.50 per ticket. All to see a movie on a miniaturized screen (they turned a 4 theater complex into 16 many years ago).

And she was pissed that they didn't accept the $6 ticket Groupon discount, even when their company's name was listed as a participant. Naturally.

I'm watching St. Cloud State University vs. Minnesota. I was only going to watch while I ate a late dinner, but the fact that there is actually play by play has me watching more. It's on some channel I never knew we have - or heard of: BTN.

Big Ten Network... (not sure if you were being sarcastic.)

I'm listening to some pxp guy yelling at me on the Harvard/yale game.

Nope. Not sarcastic. I don't generally follow college sports since most of the focus is on ones I won't/don't follow.

Thanks for the answer (though if I were paying more attention to the TV, I'd have heard it by now).

It's s great college sports network. Lots of hockey (girls as well). Very popular during football season, obviously.

Well, on Friday nights when my wife's not feeling well, I'll look for it to watch some hockey. Like tonight.

There's another game on CBS Sports Network, too: Colgate v. Cornell.

I meant the expense, but yes, point taken.

Decent flick, though.

Do you get the sense when JSaq says he is going to the movies it's him that's the one kicking and screaming not the kids.

You know I don't drink often, or much. My average weekly intake is 0. And I may have a handful of drinks every couple of months. So I recently had to take a health assessment at work. How much do I drink in an average week--0. Have you had more than 5 drinks at one sitting in the past 6 months.--yes (for the only time in my life at the Amazing Race finale party in NYC in Dec.) The assessment comes back that I am at risk for drug and alcohol abuse. Seriously people, carbohydrate abuse, yes, drug and alcohol abuse, not in this lifetime.

I don't have the mental capacity to go to movies.

My wife goes with her friends to the movies now, I think last one I went to was Weekend at Bernie's, loved it. Figured it couldn't get better so I stopped going, went out on top.

She wanted a date night, so I obliged, but normally I'm on your side in that regard.

A matinee isn't bad - less money and less of a crowd. I won't complain about a 5.99 OnDemand charge again, I'll tell you that.

I'd bet this might help stop or at least seriously put a dent into stopping concussions

I'll bet OnDemand will always be first out of your mouth when your better half mentions seeing a movie.
