Sestito is younger, cheaper, a better player, and fully capable of playing Shelley's role and adding to the physical/fighting element of it. When the Flyers get their injured players back I would actually prefer Sestito on the 4th line instead of Harry Z or Rinaldo.
- PLindbergh31

Just think it would be interesting to have Sestito as our 4th line tough guy and Carkner on defense, whether it's a 6th or 7th defenseman role. If you add these 2 to the mix of what we have already, we might be considered one of the tougher teams in the league and hard to play again. All we would need beyond this is Pronger to return of a Weber trade.

i should have clarified, i meant with homer as gm
- flyerscup2011

well Holmgren has been GM for 5 drafts, 2007 JVR, 2008 Sbisa, 2009 none, 2010 none and 2011 Couturier

According to the local media, Couturier was a dman. does that count?

I didnt say tough guys. I said they can stick up for themselves...
- RooNosHockey

I guess so. I haven't seen anything that makes me think Zulnerczyk and Lilja could stand up for themselves.

Back when I followed the festival of clowns on Twitter, I was howling when Seravalli tweeted Flyers take Sean Couturier D, and 30 seconds later Pinocchio tweeted the same thing.

Bill, you should have done bad, then good. by the time I got to the end of the blog, all the warm, fuzzy feelings from the first part were gone and I was left with bitterness.

4th place in the east. Technically 3rd. Injuries. Rookies galore. Uneven goaltending.

I'm ecstatic.

Okay, maybe cautiously optimistic.

I like Carkner. He's only played 19 games with the Sens this year, not sure if it's due to injury or what.

it amazes me. I mean, i can get if its a guy drafter later but knowing the Flyers had the 8th pick, you would think the so called hockey beat writers would be doing a little research. idiots

He's only 28, and he's on pace for a 50+ point season. He will certainly get a raise. Maybe a significant one.
- PLindbergh31

And that's kinda why I rule him out. When you really analyze the UFA list there is not a lot to pick from there if you're looking to upgrade what we already have imo.

He was hurt at some point this season but that happens. I wouldn't look too far into that. If possible, I think the Flyers should look into matching the current cup champ's size.

Well if he is in the Carle ballpark, would you rather have Wideman or Carle?

It made them look like horses asses, same thing with the Zherdev being good in playoff shootouts tweet. If I was Carchidi I would claim someone hacked my account, that was unreal. Someone working for the Podunk Pioneer wouldn't send out such nonsense.

Do they wonder? I don't think they care. The joke is on us, they are cashing some big checks, with zero hockey knowledge.

Time will tell. He's only 22 and a lot can happen in his career, I would prefer the Flyers stick with JVR. I also don't want the Flyers to continually trade guys they have recently signed to long term deals. It may affect their ability to sign free agents going forward.
- PLindbergh31

I would prefer the Flyers to keep JvR also but that doesnt mean im not willing to trade him to upgrade an area of need (defense). If the return is equal/greater value its a deal the Flyers need to consider.

Tough call. If I somehow know I'm getting the Wideman from '08-'09 then it's a no brainer for me. The Flyers need some type of a D man that can operate on the PP now that Pronger is out. I think Wideman would work well with our forward group. Pair him with a steady, stay at home guy and let him wheel a bit.

I think we all agree the Flyers need some help on defense in the absence of Pronger, I think the disagreement is who to target, and what to give up.

i agree with that. it was just that over the course of 10 straight unpositive points, I was feeling devoid of positivity.

Im fine if the Flyers decide to give up a 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th round pick to acquire a Gleason, Allen, or Gill type player.

If im moving JvR (rumors) then it better be for Schenn + or Weber.
