- Liles has been a pleasant surprise. The fact that he took a modest pay cut to play in this city shows his commitment. Veteran leadership is appreciated
- AngryWhiteMale
I do not think that Liles would have gotten a 4 yr term as a UFA this summer - especially coming off a concussion and him signing in Toronto for a 4 yrs contract is what made sense
I hope he regains his form when he comes back - possibly in the back to back with the Penguins |

The key to mainting the depth of this blueline is cap manageability.
- Dion's not perfect, but he's matured into a captain that at least puts up enough points to compensate for his defensive deficiencies.
- Liles has been a pleasant surprise. The fact that he took a modest pay cut to play in this city shows his commitment. Veteran leadership is appreciated
- Gunnarsson has been the most consistent Dman we've had the last two seasons. His skill set means he won't necessarily be hard to lock up for decent cap hit and believe me, we'd notice his abscence When guys went down, he took on a bigger role admirably
- Aulie: How many guys in the league are under 25, over 6'4'', and despite their height, still be able to skate and be effective with the puck.
- Gardiner: Nothing to say to say that you probably haven't figured out yourself.
- Schenn: If the right deal comes, it comes. Otherwise, I truly believe we will see him regain his form as he matures. The reason we need to play hardball with PHI is because we'd face him on a regular basis and would sufffer the consequences of him and his brother on the same team. That's the Dragonball Z equivelant of going Super Saiyen.
My point: Those 6 are the future. The key to that is maintaining cap manageability, so that we have the space to acquire necessary firepower up front. That is one thing I think BB will be able to do. - AngryWhiteMale
Franson is as tall as Aulie but will offense too, he is not the one getting scratched when Liles comes back. plus Blacker is 2 years away at the most.
I agree with your assessment but i think we need to give up on one of our good young D and get a Center.

OH &%#$ yeah I forgot him.
I knew I forgot someone. He came in and stole Komi's spot!(I have been drinking, to be honest) He's looked like Schenn in his own zone, with Dion's shot but better placement. Another guy who makes very little $ and is still young.
I have to admit if there's one guy that's softened my no-trade stance on schenn, it's franson. He provide many of the tools Luke does and has a howitzer fit for WWII
He's a keeper. I have been really pleased with how he came in an earned a spot.
Thanks for reminding me |

He's the type pf player we need at half the term, and slightly less per annum.
BB understands how important cap management is to building a winner long-term.
For example.
If CHI didn't have Christobal Huet & Brian Campbell locked up for a combined 13m per year, Byfuglien, Versteeg, Brouwer, Niemi and Ladd would probably all still be Hawks - AngryWhiteMale
Yes, of course. Isn't that the whole point of the cap system. Every GM understands it's importance...except maybe Montreal and CHI didn't really learn the hard way, as they received a cup out of it...
Half the term and slightly less per annum and I'm sure there would be at least half the league bidding.... |

Not true - Huet was jettisoned to Europe - it was Tallon's error in not filing RFA offers on time - so he had to offer the RFAs above market value deals - Toews got a big bonus for being the MVP of the playoffs - which cut into the cap for the following year - leading to those players having to be moved - they still had Campbells contract on the team after they won the cup |

If I did you'd qualify for a cash rebate on the new ford fiesta. You'll get a week's worth of driving in it for the same amount of gas you'd burn driving your mercury to the local for dealership |

Wow, you think CBJ would do that for real. an overpaid dman Mac, a very middling prospect and a first. for a young forty goal Scorer. if that was doable Burke woulda did it! plus Columbus is probably not on komi's list of teams to be traded to. - ky678468
I really don't think Burke wants Carter, so mostly everything in this blog is moot.
Burke is up to something thou.
on a side note: D'Amigo will be a good NHL'er once he gets the chance to really play... Stalberg and Hayes turned out pretty good for the Hawks, and some will argue D'Amigo is more talented then either. |

Doesn't matter that MTL is giving Gomez god knows how much. They couldn't attract players to that market who deserve that money anyway so they may as well throw it away on Scott.

If it wasn't for those tossers at the shop who did crap work it'd still run as it may have been a beater, but it was surprisingly nimble in the winter time. |

You are right - I do not believe Burke wants Carter - if you recall there were 4 "problems" in PHI - Hartnell, Richards, Carter and Lupul
They started by trading Lupul to ANA to break up the 4 - and then followed that with the deals this past summer to get rid of 2 more
Do you really think Burke wants to reunite 2 of the 4 problems from PHI? |
