Yes... he is. But not for the price they'll want. He's not got much left in the tank. - Brian Huddle

back to the old way of doing things? Giving youth for an aged guy who we dont need right now...we might need a guy like that in 2 years, but not now. Were not a playoff team just yet. |

Of course he didn't.
I thought the For Realzzzzzzz! what pretty much a guarantee that he didn't.
He did say that Dallas would consider moving him though, and it was an interesting conversation starter, as I think Morrow, if healthy, is exactly what the Leafs need up front.
He's only signed through next season as well. |

trade from a position of strength to address a position of need. We have a ton of defensemen and Aulie won't be missed. It is the other conference so even if this is a (frank) up it won't haunt us. I agree that trading youth for age is the wrong thing to do when you have 12 former captains on the roster that the leafs once did. But with a young team, he would provide everything the leafs are currently missing. You can afford to sacrifice one young piece when your team is this young. You need some veterans if you want to have any kind of success. |

Hes going to play wing center and goal all at once!? While coaching the team!?
..hes not what the team needs. Sure they could use a guy with grit, sure they could use a guy with more experience and leadership but there is absolutely no reason to trade a young guy like Aulie for a guy who we might get two years out of at best. No thanks. |

A Dman like Aulie should be traded for a similarly young forward like MPS (or Schenn for JVR ect.) until the team is a sure thing for the playoffs, and cup contender.
Then move youth for vets. |

ok. that is another issue the leafs would have to iron out. I'm sure Burke can do it. |

ok ok, i get it.
1. Why do you think we will get two years at best out of him? If he agrees to waive his NMC to come here, there is a good chance he will re-up at the end of his contract.
2. The presence of veteran leadership helps not only for the playoffs. The influence he would have on Kulemin, Frattin and even Lupul would be amazing. He would add more than just his 25 goals.
3. Just because a player is a veteran does not mean that they are incapable of helping the team in ways other than leadership. He is still a very valuable player in his own right.
4. It seems that because the leafs were horrible with young players and draft picks before the lockout that fans nowadays fan massively over compensate by being opposed to any player who is above 30. NEWSFLASH ... you need players like that around. No team wins without them.
In summary, the value Morrow would bring to this team outweighs the loss of a single prospect who is redundant on our team. Aulie does nothing Schenn or Komisarek don't already do better than he does and refusing to sacrifice him for the good of the team is as backwards as the pre lockout way of managing the team |
