They need a 2nd line center, IMO. - Brian Huddle
What about Bolland or Sharpe?
I don't know them as well, but I thought their need was a LW? |

They've always been more skilled at installing car stereo systems in good time than they have been at removing them.
But maybe I'm just being stereotypical |

Yup they do ...Kane was playing some centre this year and female dogin' about it.
BB was on the radio on the ride home last night. It sounded like he'd have to be blown away to move Grabo in the midst of a playoff race ....or if he had to move him because he's bringing in another centre. |

meh, its the internet. laughing is the easy way out.
looking at those other two trades... it wasn't Beauchemin for Gardiner +. Lupul was considered a big "-", and the price we had to pay in addition to Beauch for Gardiner... and Anaheim really wanted Beauchemin back.
As for Kaberle, he was seen as a guy who would step up given better linemates, as many thought he was done with TO and just going through the motions. And again, Chia really wanted him. The first time Burke tried for Kessel, Chia wanted Kaberle + 7th overall(which, in hind-sight...). Both of those deals involved players the other GM really coveted, more than other GMs would have... and both were teams that Burke had a history of trading with.
Unless Chicago really wants Grabo, or wants to dump some cap on us, I don't see them giving up a comparable package to what we got for Kaberle and Beauch. - Feeling Glucky?
Hmm, I guess that's a good point, plus we are freeing up cap space rather than taking on some as was the case in both of those deals..
So yea, maes a bit mroe sense, but I still think it would be entertained. |

I wouldn't think Beach is the biggest problem IMO. Last year, Kaberle brought back Colbourne+, and Beauchemin brought back Gardiner+
Grabovski had 29 goals last season and is on pace for another 30G 30A season, which IMO makes him more valueable than either of Kaberle/Beachemin.
Not to mentiont he need for Centres this year.
Maybe its a little lopsided, but laughing at the trade makes no sense to me - mfreedman
Burke can holdout for an offer he likes, the player he got back for Kaberle and Beuch are perfect examples. We dont have to trade him, can resign him to a reasonable contact (3.5-4 imo) he good value.

Bolland hasn't produced in the 2 slot, they're willing to move him or keep him in the 3 hole.
Sharp has been playing on the wing mostly. |

That's the key - Burke's in the driver's seat for this one. The Kaberle precedent shows GMs too that he's not bluffing, he'll gladly hold on to him past the deadline if he isn't blown away. |

Not a chance in hell.
What, with the moeny being thrown around last summer?
RJ Umberger get 4.5 per. Grabs already makes 2.9. And that was after his first year in TOR with something like 45 pts.
He'll be looking for something north of Mike Ribeiro's contract. In the 5-5.5 range.
Not sure what the UFA pool looks like but I can't see there being a glut of half-decent centres available.
Grabs will attract some sexy offers |

So if I owned something like say a ...oh I don't know ...a Honda Civic and I parked it somewhere like say ...oh I don't know ...Markham I might come back to my car and find I've got a wickedass new Bose system? This is just random and speculative generalization of course. |

We'll see when it comes to it. He might be a little grateful to the team that gave him his chance. |

Getting him away from the Kotstitsyns gotta be worth something! Also, what about all the money they'll save re-signing Kulemin after a 10 goal campaign instead of a 30? |

BB said he made Grab's and Liles mid-season offers. Liles lead to a contract ...Grabo's didn't. I think you're right ...he may get 5ish on the open market and BB was probably looking for an early-signing, hometown discount. |

Liles has bought into the team and Burke's plan... you would hope Grabo has as well and takes a haircut.. If he ends up a UFA then obviously he hasn't bought in and he's not right for the team anyway. He's not good enough to not take a hometown discount.. if that makes any sense |

Depends where you park.
If it's at a T&T you're chances are pretty good.
Be careful though
If I park my car in parts of North York I'd feel pretty nervous about hitting the red-button on my keyless remote. |

Went from whining trouble child in a mafia war with some drunk Belorussians to a very good two-way 2nd line centerman wearing an 'A' on his chest. |
