only way schenn goes is for big forward, if not he stays and komi gets bought out next year,
dreger says bluejackets want to trade carter and he wants out, also says it wil take a first round pick and a forward that can play now, not alot of teams want him, if ur burkie u do it. 1st td pick and grabo. grabo is a ufa will likely get 3.5-4 mill, carter is a 5.27 mill cap hit for next 10 years, 40 goal guy at 27 u do it. you can also keep schenn with that deal. - leafsdc
Thats ten years too long... |

At 5.27M, he's pretty darn good -- for a 27 year old 40 goal scorer. |

Carter would be an upgrade, but only if he could be had, relatively cheap. That 10 year contract is the problem. If the Blue Jackets want to dump his salary and would take back a Grabovski and a prospect, then it could be looked at. I wouldn't send a first rounder or a top level prospect for him. |

Maybe he'll grow into a more responsible center that Toronto has been searching for a while. |

I agree -- but highly doubt CBJ would take that.
They paid far more than that for him just 6 months ago |

I just cant see them trading Couturier and Voracek for him, then 6 months later trading him for a UFA 2nd liner and some random prospect.
Columbus has trouble enough signing FAs.. why wouldnt they wanna keep a top liner whos forced to play there for 10 yrs |

The 10 year thing was just a way to circumvent the cap.
I highly doubt he'll be playing until he's 37. Most players don't. |

Thats a cheap cap hit for a top line center...Sure length is big but why worry about that..We need a center and carter likely the cheapest to be had in terms of what u give up to land him...

If you watched the show on LeafsTv called "Behind the draft", Burke was mic'ed up and was talking to Howson. He then said "Congrats on getting your guy, we were in on the other one"
He was talking about being in on Richards. |

xactly....at least wait till he gets healthy and starts putting up stats again....he'll be worth a helluva lot more next season.
right now he's damaged goods. |

If you want to get better right now, then there just aren't that many other options around who won't cost you an arm and a leg.
Getzlaf? Staal? WAY too expensive. Good prospect, good roster player, 1st. At least. Statsny? I guess... but too high a cap hit for a player just doesn't seem all that good.
Carter makes the most sense. And can be had for a decent price. |

hate to say it but i think schenn is who it will be... toronto has too much cap tied up on the blueline now for certain and he'll have to move someone close to the same hit
ie: schenn
unless by some miracle komi is moved... now that he's playing well i have the faintest of hopes lol - Dozzer
That was my guess, Toronto's only move now is for that big first line talent, preferably a Center. And it's going to take Schenn (obviously not just schenn) to get that player gardner, and Franson could also be candidates. Komi i think is all ours, but the good news is he at least is earning half his salary this year. |
