Pretty obvious Smyth is a rental that will just end up back in Edmonton July 1st, so he probably fetches a crap prospect or a 4th or later pick.
- kingbrehm

how about Jim O'brien (ottawa's 07 1st rd pick) for ryan smyth.

o'brien is a solid bottom six c/w, but was pushed down the depth chart by zach smith, condra, greening, etc, and with the slew of forwards the sens drafted last year, will probably never crack ottawa's line-up. you guys are pretty set in your top six, but your bottom six seems to be pretty much set, but o'brien could add some grit and a little scoring to your bottom six.

Anyone else think it's a little early to say that Whitney's foot/ankle injury is as serious as Forsberg's? I heard this yesterday on Jason Gregor too, think it might be a little soon to go that extreme.

He's already missed a tonne of games in the short time he's been here, and he doesn't seem to be comfortable playing yet, so maybe it's not too out of line to compare him to Forsberg. Also, don't forget that this has been going on for a while now...

As per Wikipedia:

In the 2008 off-season, it was revealed that Whitney had been suffering from a chronic foot injury throughout the season. It was later discovered that Whitney was born with abnormally high arches (hollow foot) in both of his feet. After an attempt using orthopedic inserts in his skates failed, Whitney underwent osteotomy, a surgical procedure to realign the bones in his left foot, on August 15, 2008. It was expected that Whitney would miss five months of the 2008–09 season. After playing one game with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, as part of a conditioning stint, Whitney made his return to Pittsburgh, in a 2–0 loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning, on December 23, 2008.

Whitney underwent a second osteotomy in May 2010, this time to realign the bones in his right foot.

Raymond gritty? Since when? Man you are out to lunch when you talk about other players.

All reports have Burns returning after the All star break.

Cloutier has some pretty connected people though so I'll believe him.

Yeah.

They are pretty thin on the back end. Howson said he thinks they are only 1 good defenseman from competing so I doubt they move any defenseman.

(frank)ing tool, they are dead last in the NHL and they think they are one player away from competing? For what an out of lottery position?

I guess the key with CBJ would be Moore and NIkita. They step up then maybe someone is expendable, but that probably doesn't happen anytime soon.

Howson would need to win the Stanley Cup this season in order to save his job.

It didn't help that Carter and Nash haven't exactly clicked.
