I've been saying the same thing since Day 1. Still plenty of time for us to be wrong though. Goalies have good years and bad years. One bad year doesn't make or break a career.

But it's the goalie's fault.

People will be all over Bryz no matter what he does. He had a very good stretch of ten games or so leading into 24/7, and the first shaky game he had afterwards, people we're tweeting and saying, "Well, he's back in the woods!!"

I just bugs me that people seem to want him to fail.

- Jsaquella

It's a weird relationship that Flyers fans seem to have with our tenders. When the #1 is going well, it's expected and not really celebrated cause they haven't won a cup.. aren't Bernie etc.. then when the falter, the backup is the second coming and the #1 can't do anything right. I don't know if it's a pile on mentality when someone's down because it's easiest to blame goaltending for all loses or if it's an expectation to fail or simply that it's easiest not to cheer for the #1 in case he doesn't do well so you are not disappointed.

Just cheer for whoever is in net for us to have success.. if he's wearing the Flying P. Simple as that.

The newsgroup is still there. I have not been there for months but there are still people there...maybe Rick, Cordo, AuRevoire and a few others. I'm sure fat Eddie still trolls too. Hell I lingered there until 4-2-2008...but in all honesty I was largely absent during the lost season. That season combined with moving and marriage pretty much put me out of the loop for a good bit. MeltzerBuzz is a great place though. Good stuff/people in here, but yeah if we took it to a.s.h.n.phila-flyers levels of raunch the ban hammer would be pretty (frank)ing busy.

Where is Roy Musa when you need him?

- Lexington Flyer

I haven't been there in years. AuRevoire is still there? he and I were roommates for about 4-5 months back in the day. what was your name in there? we had some good times

His problems seem so fundamental that it should be fixable. Little changes...IDK, I really think that the hard luck goals and breakdown goals really affected him, and then his confidence waned and his game needs fixing.

I still think with work, hard work, he will be fine. Even something as simple as better fundamentals will help his game a lot.

i know he is better than he's been. and im rooting for him obviously.

I get that mentality, guess I just feel it's incredibly dumb.

I root for the Flyers to win, regardless of who is in net or dressed. I root for whomever is playing to do great. I even enjoy seeing Jody Shelley be an effective physical 4th line presence when they dress him, even though I probably would have waived him months ago.

That's a better context of the whole thing but it's still a weak move on Demers part. The first punch was okay (he missed anyway), the second one he was punching at air.

no...I said, if Bryz had overcommited on a goal, like Bob did on that second goal, people would be complaining about Bryz.

Exactly. You want to see the team win. Him having success makes that more likely.

IO wasn't a fan of Matt Carle when he was added, but I tell you what, he's won me over. The guy's worked hard and played well for my team, so I warmed to him. The first step is having an open mind.

Those people would be misguided, biased and unintelligent hockey folks then.

Bob was great last night, but I can't help feeling that if Bryz over commited on a goal, as much as Bob did on the second goal last night, we'd all be killing him.

It stems from the media coverage. Folks go to the Servalling Carchiding Dramaccios of the world for hockey coverage and this is what you get. Those three love the drama and, in the words of Live, are Selling the Drama.

I know.. Remember that snipe Shelley had last year vs ATL on the road I think? Slap shot top corner in a win. I laughed for hours..

It's like the old EA sports games for PS2 where I'd chuckle when scoring two goals in a game with Kent Manderville.

No doubt about it, Bryzgalov would have been ripped for the goals Bobrovsky gave up. But that's what happens when your playing well, or your not playing well. Right now, Bobrovsky is the better Goalie. We'll see what happens after the All Star break.
- MJL

Or that's what happens when you make 5.5 mil for 9 years and were brought in to be the guy. I think that's why he gets ripped when he lets them in as opposed to BOB who is a 2nd year back up.

Didn't anyone tell him he's not a real hockey player yet? He and Shelley really need to figure it out.

Scratch Bryz for game 1 of the playoffs, bring in Leighton to back up and take over the reigns when BOB inevitably fails.

i don't know that he'd be ripped for either goal if the sequence unfolded exactly the same. bob made two unbelievable stops before the first goal and got bumped trying to get back into position for the 3rd shot. in trying to see through the screen he leaned too much to his left and it pulled him off his angle just enough to get beat. and bob stayed with versteeg all the way and got beat back door on a 2-0.

i don't think bryz gets hammered on either of those, but bob gets the benefit of the doubt no question.

I think Bryz would get hung out to dry no matter what because he hasn't been who everyone expected him to be. When it gets to that point, people stop looking at reasons why they go in other than "he sucks". Hopefully he can elevate his game though, because it looks like BOB has and I would love to see a positive goalie controversy for once.
