I always have reservations about stuff like that, but man, what an incredible thing if true.

I thought Ehrhoff looked pretty solid in his return last night, he's become an integral part of this team in his short tenure. As much as we bag Darcy, his trade with the Isles and subsequent signing with Ehrhoff was one of his better moves ever.

Anyone else catch that Derek Roy was mouthing off every chance he had last night? After both of his back to back penalties in the 2nd period, and several times after the whistle or before faceoffs the camera caught him chirping at the referees. What is his problem, just shut up and play the game. He had 2 really good scoring chances down low on Broduer and he failed to capitalize.

I hate to keep picking on on individuals because this is a team sport, and no one player is responsible for the Sabres struggles, but he just comes off as such an unlikeable louse.

I'm a converted fan this year but let's not get carried away. He's possibly on the 3rd line in Detroit or Chicago...

The one part of Pommer's game I'll still criticize is his willingness to get dirty. I saw him curl a few times last night.

- Pairo11

Dont agree hes a pure goal scorer and I really dont care if he gets his nose dirty as long as hes scoring timely goals.I believe the stock on Pommer is rising outside Buffalo and his saleryis way more attractive then Vanek.Hopefully his name is not on the table.

They overpaid for Ehrhoff and we didnt need him.Regie had a huge difference in the game last night as well Leopold.Leo is our most dangerous offensive threat from the blueline and why IMO we didnt need Ehrhoff here.

How are we overpaying Ehrhoff? I can name a bunch of defensemen who have more than $4mil per year cap hit who are significantly less valuable to their team than Christian.

Sure but Leopold is getting to the end of his contract and his career.

Robyn is also quite old and I can only see him sticking around for 2 more years at the most.

Gragnani and Weber have been extremely disappointing and are playing there way out of Buffalo IMO

Ehrhoff...a dman with his skills...with a reasonable cap hit of 4m is a fine addition. Plus it gives us some guaranteed stability on the blueline for years.

They said it's at least two years before knowing just how effective it is.

Glad to see it might be closer to the end than the begining.

My only problem is the drug companies will never allow insurances to cover the cost of this drug. That will be the biggest travesty to the human race.

bingo

Michael Roszival, Joni Pitkanen, James Wisniewski, Ed Jovanovski, Jack Johnson, Sergei Gonchar, Mike Komisarek, John-Michael Liles, Keith Ballard, and Ron Hainsey all have higher cap hits than Ehrhoff yet IMO provide their team with less value per dollar than Christian.

Agree on Grags and Weber but Ehrhoff still hasnt impressed me nor been the threat from the blueline that was expected. If it was me id resign Leo and Regie and move up some of the young guns from Rochester.

Yes he did have a great game yesterday but the offense again looked beyond awful but a win is a win. I had a fealing in the shootout pominville was going to tie it. Hopefully they can all build off of this win and get healthier through the all star break.

This guy isn't Paul Coffey, Phil Housely, or Bobby Orr...not sure what you expected out of him.

Sure his PPG is down a bit this year, I'm not saying he's having an A+ season, but it's clear to me this team is better with him on the ice than not.

Money talks nowadays.

My 31yr old handicapped sister takes almost 40 pills a day for various issues. Her one seizure pill cost over $1000 a month alone. By my esimates her medicine costs over $3500 per month in total. Pharmaceutical companies will find a way to fvck this up.

I think his value as a powerplay QB has been sorta nullified with the overall crap play of the rest of the team.

Unless we can resign Leopold for a reduced cap hit he isnt much worth it...same thing for Regier...the guy is old as hell and has to be pretty darn healthy to be effective.

I agree with getting some new blood up here

McNabb-Tower of power
Gauthier-Leduc-Seems like another solid offensive D-man
Pysyk- Made the world junior team and I think might be the best out of all 3

Having done a lot of work for Pharmaceutical companies I can tell you (and I'm not trying to be an apologist) that they get a bit of a bad rap when it comes to the cost of medication.

For instance, it costs less than 2 pennies for each pill of Aggrenox (http://www.aggrenox.com/) yet the medication costs hundreds of dollars to the consumer. The primary reason being the millions of dollars of research and development costs the drug companies sink into creating the drug in the first place. In addition to the millions of dollars of R&D that is done on the other 200 pills that never hit the market.

Once the FDA approves a drug, and mass production starts, almost all medicine is inexpensive to produce. But by then the drug company is so far in the hole there is no choice but to overcharge to recoup the costs. It's an unfortunate cycle.

I know it is on a much smaller scale than a cancer vaccine (what could be bigger?) but you can see if the right people protest like in the SOPA thing (Google, Wikipedia) the people in charge can't help but take notice.

There is a negative to the vaccine though. World population could grow to unsustainable levels as people live longer. Obviously I am not advocating to not have the potential vaccine, but that would be part of the fallout from such a thing.

Can Pomminville possibly get any better this season ? I used to think Vanek was the best winger we had on this team but you have to admit Pomminville doesnt go into funks pout and has a truely wicked shot as well comes up big at big times.Team Captain All Star and arguably the Offensive MVP of this really bad team.
- buffalo 1

This inspired me to look into the stats/facts (which have no place here.)

This year Pominville has been pointless in 2 consecutive games only twice. Mr. Consistency. He also had 5 consecutive games where he did not score a goal.

2010-2011: Pominville's worst pointless drought was 4 games and it happened 3 times. His worst stretch was to start the season where he had 2 points in 11 games. His goal-less streaks were 9 games, 6 games twice, 5 and included a stretch of 1 goal in 16 games.

2009-2010: Again, 4 consecutive games pointless, 3 times. His goal-less streaks were 7, 6 and 5 twice.

2008-2009: Twice he went pointless in 4 consecutive, once 5 consecutive. Goal production was abysmal. His worst goal-less streaks were 9, 8, 7, 5 and 17 games. Some of those made up 2 Matt Ellis-esque streaks of 1 goal in 17 games, then 1 goal in 31 games.

This year, Vanek is currently in one of his funks. He has not registered a point in the last 6 games and only has 2 in the last 12 games. He has not scored a goal in the last 9 games and has only scored twice in the past 17 games.

2010-2011: Vanek had a 7 and a 5 game pointless streak. He went goal-less for 5 games twice, 6 games twice, 7 and 8 games once. At one point he only netted 3 goals in 20 games.

2009-2010: Vanek's worst streak without a point was 4 games, only once. He went 5 games goal-less three times and 6 games once.

2008-2009: Again Vanek's worst was 4 games without a point. Worst goal drought was 5 games one time.

Over the three and a half seasons Vanek has 119G, 112A, 231 pts. Pominville has 83G, 144A, 227 pts.

Pretty solid numbers there for both of them. Jason has 36 fewer goals over that span, and lighting the lamp is what gets you the headlines (and $$) which is why he's been under appreciated up until this season. But he's a bit more consistent game to game than Vanek is, and I think we'd be in great shape to have a dynamic top line if we could ever find those 2 guys a center to play with whose name didn't rhyme with Boy or Wrecked.

Way pass that mark man. With the way we live now. It is remarkable how medicine, technology, and fuel has put some artificial ceiling to our growth. Im a fish and wildlife management major....all of my course professors have made it their life's work to study population dynamics. Most of them like to tell us how a mass die off is inevitable. Who knows when though? Thats up to us haha
