UFAs that I think should be targeted

T. Ruutu
A. Brunette
J. Hudler
T. Gleason
K. Brodziak
B. Prust
S. Thornton
Z. Konopka

- HotSauceBlueChs

Boston's Thornton?

I like Brunette and I kind of hoped that Buffalo had went after him this year.. but now I think he might be too old.. Prust I don't know enough about his durability or career stats..

I already said that "the core" needs to traded... did you miss that part!!?? Vanek, Pommer, Ennis, and Gerbe are the only offensive guys I see value in keeping..

It might be flawed to pay top dollar for talent but Buffalo has to do things.. we can not just say.. hey.. "we are montreal.. or hey we are pitt" and people will sit down and listen

- MillerTime1130

You need to tank for two years and get some top end players on low end deals. That is how it works. Unless you are Detroit and can somehow strike gold/oil twice in the 7th round. Once you get the proper core players. Then you can add the free agents to compliment them. For right now the whole operation needs to be gutted.

dude... please go back and read what I actually wrote.... I said that I bet Regier is kicking himself from the trade LAST YEAR because he originally wanted Backes and not Boyes.. but settled on Boyes..

learn how to read

What makes you think Backes was available?

It is sad that you would take that from what I wrote instead of what it was. Pointing out how other franchises have won championships and how Buffalo's current model is flawed. Or do you think that the current setup in Buffalo will eventually yield the desired results? I mean the core just needs more time right?
- Gunner Staal

Dude dont worry about it. Its pretty clear your not flaunting anything. The pens have had an awesome bout of luck...tanking when some of the best draftees were available..and having a GM that can play the game. Something that eventually Buffalo will need to do. You have solid points. Dont argue. Your right Unless your bored and are in the typing mood....then I would argue.

IMO opinion Ennis is the next Max.... Put him in a package and get him out of here.... Leino is going to be here is whole contract as well... Nobody will take it.... and still i think he will bring value to this team when he starts playing his game and Lindy keeps him on wing and in a line he can build with, The guy still works his butt off, but just is not yeilding the results..... The Kassian Adam Leino line was very good and hardworking... Should of kept it going...

Theres a little bit of that right now. Lunch is at 12:30. And yes Pittsburgh was lucky. But even lottery winners f things up. They took the luck and have not taken it for granted.

Goose is the only guy on the Sabres at Center that is worth a dang right now.. and that not saying much... He wins in the dot.. He is one the best in the dot almost every year if I am not mistaken.. This year he is basically a goon who protects Miller.. thats for McCormick and Kaleta
- MillerTime1130

so you think we still have a chance this season? or would you rather look to the future.. bring up Finley if you are worried about Millers fagile frame..

I still think Leino will hold value when he gets some talented players to play with. I don't agree with the 'works his butt off' comment though..

He coasts just as much as th rest of them.

I remember reading it... Do you really think I care enough to go out on a google search or whatever and find some stupid source that says it just to make your day?

not sure we even have to do it for 2 years.. we have some pieces i really think they could make a few moves and be back in the hunt late next season. it all starts at the top though

Actually, no I don't. I thought you might have remembered where you saw it and I would've liked to have read it.

I'm a skeptic. Don't have a source, I don't believe it. Not that you should care.

yep...this team needs the grit and vinegar he can bring.

Prust is large and has the ability to put up alright numbers 30ish pts ....a better replacement for Kaleta or Ellis

Perhaps not two years, but they need a slam dunk center and my opinion is that it has to come in the draft. There are no good UFA centers and a trade would be taking any assets the Sabres have currently off of their roster moving forward. You also have to assume that Darcy (assuming he is still at GM) makes the right pick as well.

They need to pick up a legitimate # 1 Center, a scoring winger and most importantly move out the junk that's polluting the room now.

First things first, get that center (preferably 2) and then worry about filling out the winger position. Winger should be the Sabres last concern. Build through the middle (C,D,G)

#1 center is the void.. they also need more of a vet presence and to purge themselves of the boys club mentality.. when/where can you get the #1 is the key, is colorado willing to part with statsny since duchene and o'reilly are coming up? outside of him i really don't think any others are available through trade and anyone drafted would take at least 3 seasons and this draft class coming up is thin (on paper).

I think getting rid of some of the problems is almost as big as obtaining some players. A change of culture/attitude in the room is so badly needed right now...

No I don't really think Buffalo has a chance for much this season.. They are what 8 points out of 8th place?? its not totally unbelievable but with their habits I don't see it happening...

I personally would like to see...

Vanek - Adam - Pommer
Gerbe - Leino - Kassian
McCormick - Gaustad - Kaleta
Foligno - Schzzrzra - Ennis

Regehr - Myers
Erhoff - Leopold
Finley - McNabb

See with all this center talk I am just left asking...What is luke adams place on this team? He has shown to be an effective center at times but If we make the splash and say trade roy+ for the #1 or go the way of the draft....im starting to think roy will be here next year...where does adam go? Hes a waste on the 3rd line. Is he good enough to take over 2nd line duties for the long haul? No idea over here.
