I have nagging knee problems. That should qualify me for a lifetime contract.

we will have to agree to disagree...the past 8 weeks the goaltending has not been the problem
- NYI78

It's not the number one problem. I agree that scoring is. But when the isles actually get that great goaltending that nabby has given them, they can play with anyone

In the Leafs last 11 games they have only had 16 penalties called against them. In those 11 games 3 times they did not get one penalty. That's pretty impressive in a league where they call facking everything

I agree on the DeHaan front (I remember when he got hurt the first time after being drafted I mentioned this kid gets hurt too much and got a lot of crap for it.. then 2 years later he has been hurt 3 more times). That said I would never compare anyone to DP... just not fair. martinek would be a better comparison. I still think that he will be packaged in a trade in the very near future... and by think I mean pray.

I-bob saying Snow is shopping Streit... I know u all hate him .. don't care.

One of teams supposedly interested is Boston. Boston globe is reporting that Tim Thomas is on his way out after white house stuff. His NTC ends this year and he is under contract for just one more year. (Streit for TT.. then trade Nabby, Dehaan, and a pick for a top 4 D-man... pllllllleeeeeeeaaaaasssseeee!)

- niteislander

WHYYYYYY?? What good is TT for 1 season?? how does that help us in the long run.. if you have an asset like Streit.. you trade him for a player that will help with this teams future.. im not saying a prospect or a pick.. im talking a good young NHL player.

At least 50% of our losses this year you can point to a soft Goal. feel free to look at the recaps on the isles site. We don't get blown out in most games. The 1 goal games we have Montoya letting in a couple from the top of the circle, Nabby doing his DP impression out of the net, or some other soft goal. Has our goaltending been horrible.. no.. but in my opinion in the NHL today teams are closer than most really understand. 1 soft goal a game makes a huge difference. If you have a top 10 goalie instead of a bottom 10 (or back up) it would make a tremendous difference. Do we need more scoring? yes of course we do... but we need better goaltending too.

A little research for you:

The Islanders have lost 7 games by 2 goals.

The Islanders have lost 7 games by 3 goals.

The Islanders have lost 2 games by 4 goals.

The Islanders have lost 1 game by 5 goals.

The Islanders have lost 1 game by 6 goals.

That is 18 losses by a total of 55 goals.

Thats 11 losses by 3 goals or more.

One soft goal in each of those games doesn't tie it for them.

They have scored the fewest amount of goals in the Eastern conference and only one team in the entire league has scored fewer goals than the Islanders.

OK, maybe letting in a soft goal hurts but if the team was scoring more it wouldn't hurt as much.

The offensive part of their game is worse than the goaltending part of their game.

The Jays have won 2 championships. Pretty disgraceful.

And the Isles have won 4 cups. For a Toronto hockey fan to come on here and destroy a NY team fan base that we're a disgrace....

I could accept ZERO Leaf infractions if they actually played a disciplined game last night. They didnt.

At least a half dozen flagrant & obvious fouls went uncalled. I'm not talking boarderline hooking, tripping or holding penalties. I talking dangerous stick fouls. Some with the official only a few feet away. Ya just have to wonder. How you can skate out of your way to cross check Nino in center ice and get no call? Matt Martin was nearly decapitated in front of the net by a stick. Sending him to the ice. Hunched over for the remainder of his shift. Again no call. AMac was highsticked and Bleeding. No call!

And I'm not giving the Isles a pass. They got away with some beauts to. Yes JT was pretty aggressive with the cross checks. But look what else was happening and what preempted it. JT was getting his head handed to him all night. It started early and continued into the 3rd period. If he doesnts get some protection. Something bad is bound to happen.

But back to back games against the Leafs and Isles dont get a PP? Strange considering everyone knows that our PP is our only offensive threat. Take away our PP opportunities and you pretty much remove any chance of victory for us.

As soon as Martin was called for goalie interference (even the Leaf announcers were complaining it a weak call) you had to know we were in for a long night!

Isles better wake up. As much as I love his grit. You cant have JT taking matters into his own hands. It only takes one good shot and we'll have our franchise on the shelf. Hopefully we never have a Sidney Crosby or Eric Lindros situation but why take chances.

Atleast we would then have a second line center.

can I just say I follow the Islanders closely despite being a Rangers fan and I wanna bring up something since you guys are discussing lack of toughness and Tavares getting hit too much.

in the 2009 draft when the Islanders took Tavares, they traded up in the first round and I thought that Snow was going to do something brilliant when he traded up to the 12th pick, and that was to grab Zack Kassian. In the Junior prospects game that previous January, Kassian injured Tavares on a nasty hit and gave him a pretty serious shoulder injury.

Kassian has hands and toughness, not like these hacks like Haley and Gillies and I think he would have been the perfect bodyguard for Tavares and I thought it then.

But, instead, they traded up to grab a defenseman in De Haan who probably would have still been there where they were scheduled to pick anyway.

I just don't understand why they didn't grab Kassian, and as I watch Tavares develop into one of the best forwards in the league already at only 21 years old, I still don't get it.

- jimbro83

I was on the phone with my old man when they moved up to 12th and we both thought they were gonna take kassian. And when they passed on him we were dumbfounded.

If Thomas leaves Boston, it won't have anything to do with this ridiculous incident but more that he's getting rather old and the team may want to sell high. Personally I thought it was refreshing to hear someone say BOTH political parties SUCK!
- keaner17

Me too. I hate republicans more. But democrats have to be the biggest pussies on the face of the earth. Both parties are a cancer no matter how you look at it.

They don't score..........They are 27th in the league in goals for. How many times have we been shutout. Not saying we have all-star caliber goaltenders (Nabby was in his prime), but your not going to win when you don't put the puck in the net.

Both sides could care less about the people. Just have to look at the Isles area problem for an example.

The Flames are exactly the kind of team I could see overpaying for secondary scoring. Their GM doubled down on "winning now" when quite a few voices believed they should blow it up and rebuild, and currently they're on the outside looking in. He'll have to make something happen to justify his stance.

Call me crazy but I would love the idea of trading for Patrick Kane. There are rumors that he is not happy in Chicago. If that is possible, Trade for him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Imagine him on the wing with tavares and Moulson.

Moulson, Tavares and Kane
Grabner, Nielsen and Okposo
Nino Strome Ullstrom
Martin Bailey Cizkas

OOOOH MAMACITA!

You're bat poop crazy. Kane has a NMC. And why would you put strome on 3rd line and have nielsen on 2nd. Nielsen is a 3rd line center and nothing more. Only reason he is a 2nd line center right now is cause bailey sucks.
