Wasnt hard to tell management and the owner were pretty annoyed.

They dont.

You really dont see any problem with what he did? Completely taking the spotlight off his team and focusing it on himself and his politics?

This was a team event, a traditional celebration for the Stanley Cup winners. He's a leader on the team, he played a huge role in winning the Cup.

But now everyone is talking about his politics instead of his teams accomplishment.

He can make a political statement on his own whenever he wants, but he decided to do so at the expense of his team.

Sure its his right.... doesnt mean he's right to do it.

He let the team know 2 or 3 weeks ago this was an issue. They had plenty of time to put their PR spin on this. He only made the statement after the media started prying into this. Like I said they could've lied and moved on.

He made a pretty calculated political statement.

Whatever, his choice, he coulda gone to the team event like everyone else and put his politics aside, but he chose not too.

Why does this even matter? It's no different than me skipping my staff x-mas party.

Exactly, it's not like Obama is inviting them all there to discuss politics with them so he chose not to go. Obama was congratulating the Stanly Cup team by hosting an event for them at the freaking White House, taking time out of his slightly busy schedule to be with the team. The fact of the matter is it's a huge honor for that Bruins to not just be honoured by Obama but the entire country. Put aside your own beliefs and be there for your team.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say no-showing to your NHL teams Stanley cup celebration due to political reasons IS different than you skipping your staff party cause you don't like your coworkers.

Not sure if this was mentioned here or not, but given Thomas's stance and publicity on this item, I wonder if/how Discover will respond. I guess that "Peggy" might not be the only one dodging Tim's calls. A player needs to understand that he represents his team, his city, his country, his sponsors as well as himself. I agree that he has every right to skip the meeting, but don't be surprised if people/companies take exception to his actions.

My guess is that Discover will find another player in future commercials that won't take a political stance on non-political activities.

(frank) I hope Whitney can regain even just a bit of his old form...

I dont have much faith though, and I think we need to think about building a defense without him.

Still have faith, not counting on him doing spectacular for the rest of this season but I'm expecting more as of next season, hopefully with a better supporting cast. I would love to get Gleason away from Carolina
