And the correct response is:
Tuh, I guess Thomas feels that strongly about it that he couldn't separate the game from the real world. Good for him, I guess. I wonder what I would do in that situation.
And no more need be said about it. |

I only care about hardest shot, or fastest skater. They should have a tough guy event, a boxing ring at center ice that bee cool - Killbot460
It should JUST be skills competition, no game.

What Thomas did was lame. But what Dave Hodge tweeted about how Thomas has 3 kids whose names all start with "K" was just (frank)ing stupid. |

Sooo if we take Tim's comments regarding why he didn't attend as the truth. It really has nothing to do with Obama at all. Tim resents the American government as a whole and is that really that hard to understand why? Everything he basically said it's spot on and why isn't he aloud to stand up in protest if he wants? It's his decision and I actually respect him more for it.
The American government is out of control taking peoples rights and freedoms, I wish there was more people like Tim Thomas willing to stand up for what he believes in.
I'm sure most of you would understand if a tree hugger didn't go to a Nuclear power plants party due to their beliefs. Why can't a guy who believes in freedom and the TSA not grabbing your junk and putting their hands down your pants when you're going through airport security stand up and protest.
Good for you TT |

You can't shi#t on someone else's beliefs just because you aren't as passionate as he is about it. Yeah you sit there and put yourself in TT's shoes and you all are like "wow, I'd go without hesitation". Well you all also don't feel as deeply as Tim does about his government being completely out of control. There is a lot of people in the States that are disgusted with the way their country is turning into a police state.
Just because most of you are too lazy to be bothered with it doesn't mean he doesn't have a right to voice his passionate opinion. |

Well said, While I do not agree with TT, and if I were in his shoes I would have gone for a free white house lunch, it was his decision to not go and he does live in a free country.

Dave Hodge should be fired immediately. What a (frank)ing dildo. |

Our society, while I won't say it's crumbling, is moving into a very dark place where loyalty to anyone other than yourself is looked down on. As one of my friends says all the time, "if you don't believe in something, you don't stand for anything." - Maxbone
Umm....so Tim Thomas does exactly that and you light him up?
Stick to hockey where you're just slightly ignorant. |

He could have sent a stronger message by going and talking face to face with one of the only persons in the world that can change the way his country is being run. That being said I really dont care either way, this should be a non issue. Just feel kinda bad for his teammates as the focus should have been on them not TT's political views. |

Nope, if you don't want to go somewhere there really is no reason you should have to. You think anyone on the team is going to miss him that day? |
