We should pick up Jonas' Gustavsson and Hiller, keep Enroth around too. The Jonas, Jonas, and Jhonas show!

But the other two examples are not luck. They are quality GM's making quality moves. That identified highly skilled players with compete levels. They made aggressive plays to get them and the results were good.

I will disagree on the Bruins move with Chara.
Yes, it was everything you said above, however, Boston was VERY fortunate with how the style play has turned since they signed him.
You could argue they knew that would happen, but I don't think that's the reason they signed him.

If the game was still about skating as the priority, the Chara signing would be looked at much differently than it is now.

because he knows that this group has no chance of winning a 6-5 game

****

"The biggest thing is our forwards work for our defensemen. That's the biggest change in our 60-minute effort. We really work for our defensemen.

"If we're on our game, our forwards cover where if you're in the neutral zone, you're looking at five people within a foot of the puck. That's the way we play. We don't have anybody that leads the league in offense, probably not a guy in the top 30"

The style of play has changed from the 2005-2006 season, the one where I think the Sabres fell ass backwards into the rules.

Since then it has come back to the middle, where I think it belongs. It is by no stretch even close to the pre lockout way. Plenty of teams have figured out that it isn't 2005-2006 anymore. Hell look at the Ducks in 2007, the Sabres havent gotten the memo yet.

I somewhat agree with this but for as much as we all hate Chara they got him knowing that he would anchor the D. Also, he's been a tremendous leader. He makes the team accountable.

Is there anyone, ANYONE on the Buffalo roster that would demand accountability ? Has ANYONE EVER screamed at Roy for walking back to the bench after his shift ? Or how about someone laying into Leino for the nice drop pass the other night ?

I could go on and on.

IMO the first move has to be to fire Regier. The next one has to be to find a way to get a talented # Center that is a leader. I would trade anyone on the entire team to do it besides Myers. (Sorry, I just feel that the kid is the real deal and will become a force in this league especially when he gets some talent to play with).

Do you even proof read your blogs before posting Garth? You do run a spell check, but you need to proof it before you post. Some of it doesn't make grammatic sense.
- PrinceLH

Who cares if he does not know how to spell. You and all of the other tards that post this crap everytime he creates a blog does absolutely nothing to contribute to the conversation regarding the sabres.

On another note I hope the sabres pull out of the basement and at least win a few games just to make sabres hockey somewhat interesting to watch at least. These games lately have been so boring to watch it is not even funny. I already accept the fact that we are not makeing the playoffs this year so just to have some fun hockey to watch is all I ask for at this point.

That's his problem, all defense oriented. He truly doesn't believe that offense can win games.

He has an unlikable personality. His stunt with Kessel shows all you need to know about him. Throw all the Caps/Pens stuff aside, I don't think I would like him any more or less. He is a punk.

It's easy to say that Malkin is the better player right now but I'll still take Ovechkin. He's the more dynamic player who has been dealing with frustrations that are showing in his game. When he's playing hot with that fire in his eyes - he's better than Malkin at his best imo.

I hate all things Pittsburg (Except Fat Heads and The Church Brew Works) but Malkin is way better than Ovechkin. (**Sorry...IMO)

Outside of injuries Malkin has been the better player consistently. He can actually find his own end and plays the center position.

If Malkin wins the Hart trophy (which he will at this pace, 7 of last 8 goals have been in 3rd period or OT, they have all either tied the game or taken the lead) he will be one of a select few to win the Hart, Art Ross, Calder, and Conn Smythe trophy. The others that I could find: Mario Lemieux, Brian Trottier, and Bobby Orr.

Alex is a one trick pony whose tricks have become stale. He has one of the best shots in the history of the game, however his mind for the game doesn't touch Malkin, nor his work ethic in all three zones.
