According to NJ fans on Barry's blog, there are no current financial issues. Also, the general opinion around here from NJ fans are that Parise is going nowhere and will be resigned at a very reasonable price. Everything is fine in Devils land. Nothing to see here.

its clear that most devils fans arent ready to accept the state that the franchise is currently in.. there were reports coming out last year that the devils were in trouble with their loans

- wingz4life

i feel if he goes to a winning team he will have success, yes he has been injured but the oilers arent the toughest team... he gets put on a team where ig guys try to run someone there are other players there to say i dont think so...

where ever he goes i think he will do alot better... that is why i hope either stay in the west or to the pens...

If you listen, we responded to Barry's idiotic idea that the NHL forces the Devils to move Parise. If you have come here at all, you'd realize that a great majority of us realize that if he is not resigned by trade deadline and has no solid committment for staying, we want a trade for the future.

The stuff we responded to is bloggers saying nonfactual stuff, like Parise wants out referring to an article where Parise said he loves playing under Pete DeBoer, and never said anything specifically or hinting at wanting out of New Jersey.

It was a feud between Vanderbeek and the Newark Housing Authority. Vanderbeek refused to pay for whatever reason citing promises or deals they made and built up some kind of debt because of it. I think this is what the "debt" we are in right now is referring to.

trying to get hits i see

now all these trolls, mostly kings fans though, will come in and offer some deal.............how many blogs like this are we going to have?

the devils lost the games not brodeur, even if we had brodeur in his prime we wouldnt have won, scoring 1 goal in both games wont win you much at all

Link?

I don't really get this stuff, but the sequence of events leading up to all the reports is confusing. Vanderbeek commits to paying Kovalchuk 11 million with a 6.66 cap hit, why would he do that knowing he has these troubles. It makes no sense. Same with why would the Devils add salary 3 times this season even through all the reports. Things just don't add up with the Devils actions and the reports, that's what most Devils fans are usually talking about when they are saying this is nonfactual, etc.

It's hard to get hits when you have Pomegrant and Shvi anti-trolling the Devils comment section too...

Its for these reasons and the fact that most of us are used to Lou's style that we are skeptical of these reports until we hear something definitively either one way or another

Anything anyone references to talk about New Jersey's "financial woes" is always some number that was reported (than retracted) in the New York Post.

Reported, then revised a week later with less drastic numbers/figures by the New York Post.

no one really knows the financial situation other than JVB and the NHL

if your reading the post then i suggest reading the funny pages, theres more truth there that we know of

I don't ever read the post, it's not reliable....at all. With that said, if you're trying to tell me the Devils don't have any financial issues you're nuts.

I find the fact that they have added salary 3 times this season (carter, foster and poni) to be very interesting....i mean they werent huge moves but this is not the sign of a team who is financially crippled or close to it in the near future
- mhowitzer

I tweeted that the other day. With that said, if they can improve their team cheap they can put themselves in a better position to have a solid playoff run and earn more revenue.

im just saying no one really knows the extent of it other than JVB and the NHL and i believe that some places are blowing it out of proportion, if it was as bad as places are making it sound to be then why have they added salary rather than reduce it, im sure if there was a threat that the league was going to help finance that they would have said reduce payroll where possible rather than add

Then again, I don't think it is THAT bad.

They own most of their arena. The arena has Devils, Nets, numerous concerts, NBA draft. They must gain a good amount of profit. I don't understand how Vanderbeek complies this debt. It makes no sense. Is there some troubles, yes? But how can it be that bad considering what the arena makes and the moves Lou has made, specifically staying around the cap for the past three years. Unless Vanderbeek is ignoring the compiling debts, which would just be completely stupid on his part, where is it coming from?

Is these thoughts that make the Devils fans think where the hell does this terrible debt comes from. They no longer lease an arena and make barely any profit like they did at the CAA.

We just built a state-of-the-art arena just over 4 years ago with no funding from the State of New Jersey, obviously we have some loans to pay back. The deal involves real estate, hotels, and redevelopment in the 4-5 block radius around the arena. This is all potential rent and revenue that goes straight into the pockets of the New Jersey Devils once all these pieces are put into place once and for all. The 3 or 4 very successful new bars in the area are also paying rent to the New Jersey Devils. This goes way beyond what most teams have as far as assets are concerned. Sure, their attendance isn't the highest, but the fact that it's #11 on that Forbes list says something.
