This statement isn't directed at you solely but the team won 3 in a row and are 8-6 in their last 14. Perfectly acceptable in my opinion.

If anyone didn't notice, this game was quite important for the Leafs as well. They executed great tonight. Isles did a decent job in their own zone and the Leafs got a few bounces tonight. Not saying the Isles were good, they weren't but to blast the team after 1 freaking loss after beating the Caps and Flyers is just not fair.

How is Montoya's status an example of the team poopting on the fanbase?
Lets see them redeem themselves tomorrow.

- Isles316

I'm not poopting on them for one loss I'm poopting on them for 22 losses and in those, 8 shutouts.

No excuse for a lack of effort. This is what happens though when you play stiffs like Rolston and keep Nino on the 4th line. It's sends a very bad message that winning is not a big goal.
- ses111

They were flat. Unfortunately, you can't go full bore every night. Every team lays an egg now and then. The trick is to keep it at "now and then" and not let it snowball into a losing streak. I expect a much better effort from the boys at home tonight. They need these two points going into the break if they want any chance of sniffing a playoff spot.

As for the Rolston/Nino thing, I've been saying it for months now: Rolston needs to be on the fourth line if he's going to dress at all. He's garbage and brings nothing to the table other than grey hair and a shot that never hits the net. Nino should be logging third line minutes playing with Martin and Bailey. Let Rolston wallow on the fourth line with his Jersey boy Pandolfo and Wallace.

The worst part is in the post game Bailey said the biggest problem is they didn't have good dumps. If these guys don't know the importance of a good dump before the game, they don't deserve to win.
- Charlie21

That's great! A good dump is a necessity to properly start every day!

wasn't really blaming Nabby for the loss, there's 20 other players to take credit, but starting 14 of 15 games has to take a toll.

Isles win a couple then get lazy. Just like clockwork. Isles have to dump the symbol of lazy Rolston and get Ullstrom up already. Isles still have too much dead weight on this team.
- ses111

No one should have been surprised by the Isles performance last nite. Isles play terrific as long as the games are meaningless. Once they win a few and there is a faint hope that the Isle's may actually accomplish something, its choke time. We know this because we've seen it before. And unfortunately it goes right to the heart of this seasons problem again!

Guys like Rolston Reasnor and Pandolfo were suppose to get the kids over this hump. Isnt that why you acquire vet leaders? Either no one is listening or the 3 stooges arent sending a message in the dressing room. But most likely it's their lack of leadership on the Ice! Leaders are suppose to lead. But you have to have some gas left in the tank. Talk is cheap. So unless the Vets perform. Unless they show the kids that they can step it up a notch. Unless they say, get on board guys, follow me. Then this is what we can continue to expect. This has been the Isles formula for the past several years. Acquiring Vets who cant fill the bill. Coaches preach. Players perform! Our experienced players dont perform. They dont do the things necessary to win. So in turn. Any message they send falls on deaf ears.
But last nites performance should have been expected. History has shown us that. History also tells us that nothing will chance until there is absolutely no hope of a PO spot. Then we'll get some changes. Then the team will show glimmers of hope again. But only once the season is completely lost.

Ask yourself this question? Who are the leaders of this team and how old are they?

The answer tells you what we should do with the 3 Stooges.

I think it's the 5th line on any other team.

No one wants to hear this right now... but I really enjoy watching the Islanders against Toronto. When both teams are clicking you can really see just how much speed these 2 teams have on the ice. There was a point in the 3rd period where both teams were friggin flying from end to end... it is fun to watch (would be more fun if the Islander friggin scored..but fun none the less).

the only other thing I have to say about this game is Go Giants.

It's a good thing I didn't post what I wrote and refreshed the page first...because you basically just said it in your first paragraph.

To add a bit, I don't think the Isles were flat, or that they went into Toronto last night and decided to take a night off. I think they want to win, not be laughed at, and make the playoffs. I think they just played differently knowing that two wins heading into the break would have put them right on the edge of serious playoff discussion.

About eight games back, give or take a game, and a little bit of media attention seems to be the point at which this team starts believing it has a chance again, and they turn into a completely different squad, not for the better. They don't just get beat; they look bad losing.

SCLI and I could be dead wrong and it could all be coincidence, but I guess the best way to blow this theory out of the water is for them to get to within six or four points of a playoff spot and continue to rattle off some wins...if they miss out, let it be because other teams picked up the pace; not because the Isles faded again.

You know if they had one of those guys.. you could use their "veteran leadership" but having 5 of them on the roster (Reasoner, Pandawful, Rolston, mottau, Eaton) just makes your team friggin slow. Out of all of those clowns I think Pandoosho tries the hardest game in and game out, but he just does not have the skill set anymore. He is never out of position or doing the wrong thing.. he is just slow. He can't skate, can't shoot, doesn't hit, doesn't fight, and he is not a Center face off specialist... so what the fck is he doing on the team?

Obviously we deserved our fate last night. Again it highlighted our need to get someone who can battle in front of the net.
On a side note, yet another game in Toronto where you just knew damn well we wouldn't get a call to go our way. Nothing like watching a guy actually grab KO's arm and totally spin him around right in front as the offical shrugs. MacDOnald takes a stick to the face...nothing.
Tonight is the game that will show just how far this team has come.

Whew! I was begining to think either it was really lame attempt at adding a little levity to an otherwise"down" board, or people just didn't get the joke. Any of us that have played hockey on any level knows that your at least a half step behind if you haven't taken a good dump before a game.

This type of thing cracks me up. I'm closing in on 40 and every time Howie says "Streit let's one go" I chuckle. I guess I'll never grown up.

It's real easy to get down on this team after last night's effort, but for me, the way they respond tonight is gonna be telling. If they come out with the same effort they played with last night, then pack it in. If they dominate tonight, with a little help from the good Lord up above we get some secondary scoring, we'll be hitting the break on a positive note and we'll be in the exact same place we were 2 nights ago (albeit with 2 less games to play) when everyone was looking at playoff scenarios. This is the Islanders folks, they don't make it easy on us fans. Do you really expect any different?

Only those who live outside of reality were looking at playoff scenarios last night. They pissed away any chance at a playoff spot in November.

Amen, the fact that Rolston got 13:40in playing time vs Nino of 7Mins is disgusting. ROLSTON has 4 goals on year and i know one of them in empty netter. could even be two. He plays on top lines and is on PP. HE IS WORST PLAYER ON THIS TEAM> how do the insist on playing him.

Well said, They definitely pissed away playoffs spot. IT was big game and a statement game. And just like the opening night showing, they didnt rise up to occasion. So big deal, say they do win tonight its a Wash and they still way out of playoffs. instead of gaining 4 big points.

You are correct if this team comes out flat again then forget it. I say it once Is ay it twice not being prepared for a game is on the shoulders of the coach. There seems to be to many games where they are not prepared for the team they are about to face. I beleive with some pressure and shots at net we could have taken that game. Toronto did not play that well either. I watched from the first minute and knew the Islanders were done for. No emotion and not doing anything right. I was embarassed for them. Such high hopes before the game dashed within a second. I can see them doing nothing tonight as well as this is the Islanders. They get so cloes to .500 and then they are like wait we cant do that and lose like 4 or 5 in a row.

I will say the only goal I put on Nabby was the third goal. First goal was put in by Streit, second goal went off Hamonic so if you went to get technical the Islanders scored twice just in the wrong net. I am also sick of seeing one line producing. The third and fourth line are just wastes to me and they do basically nothing. Nino once again needs to be on at least the third line Roslton dropped off a bridge and then things might be looking up for us. One thing though I am sure the recent stretch where we looked "awesome" Just clarifies to GArth and Wang we need no changes so this is the team until the end. Enjoy!!

3rd goal was completely irrelevent. Nabby kept us in the game and aside from JT line, not many others gave it their all.

I have to admit, Im usually pretty positive, today im depressed and frustrated.
They knew the importance of last night and they did not rise to the occasion. Most including the coach treated it like any other day.

"I just thought they played better than us," Jack Capuano said. "They used their speed to chip pucks and get behind our 'D.' We ran into a good team tonight."
I WOULD OF FIRED HIM TODAY IF I WAS SNOW to make Statement.

As for Rolston and his .2PPG for max mins. Bench him or even better waive him. You call yourself a leader. Well play like one. Or at least fire up the troops to play.

So of course i want to see them win tonight. But i would rather been 5 points out of playoffs.

If you take the approach that theis s 35 more games, then you'll never make it. those game will come and go quickly. The fudging Rags are top of the division and Torts stressing how every game is importants EVERY GAME.

Sorry guys but there is not excuses this year. Players and Coach are to blame. You have loser mentality you lose. INJURIES with exception of Montoya and Ullstrom have been huge PLUS FOR US. they have made us better by trimming all the cr@p.

You want to make the playoffs. STOP BEING THE TEAM TO HELP OTHER OUT OF A RUT.

Boston was off to worst stanley cup hangover. then one game with isles and off the top of division they went.

Anaheim was aweful, a great choice in game we were up 2-1 by cappy to put rolston at the point on PP, lead to a Bobby Ryan SHG that turned the game around.

ah Crosby feeling better, I got an idea, Lets put him again the Islanders, and then have NHL bump Bos/habs game and put this game on National television on world to see. Isles solution. Let crosby make a hightlight reel on his first shift.

Why should i be suprised about last night. Toronto was on huge skid losing 4 of 5 and HERE comes the isles to the rescue. Lets help you get your confidence back. Will just bend over and you can have your way.

Lets look foward, any other teams in a rut we can help? WE ARE THE ISLANDERS and our commitment is helping you other teams do better.
