Aside from G... who else could he have used that would have made sesne.. Both Read and Simmer have scored on shootouts..
- jak521

I don't know...Timmonen? Voracek? Couturier? I guess I can see Read, but Simmonds doesn't really seem like a SO-guy. Maybe I'm a little guilty of hindsight

I was seriously pissed yesterday that the idiots in the crowd were mock cheering saves by Bryz. (frank)ing clowns.
- jak521

The mock cheering was a bit annoying, but I actually thought there was a lot of fan support for Bryzgalov through the game. As Bill said, he still needs to stop some of those more stoppable goals (in fact, his pay grade suggests he should be stopping some of the more unstoppable goals, but one step at a time), but the competitiveness was there.

On a side note, I got a kick out of Bryz banging his stick on the ice during Flyers PPs, noticed him doing it a number of times through the game. Is that a usual thing for him to do?

it is your opinion that he made a bunch of quality saves!

Fact is he allowed a goal he should have stopped (Maybe even 2 goals if you ask Bill). That isn't opinion, that is fact.

Again, you point of view isnt spin but mine is. Stop being so close minded as in to think that your point of view is the only one.

- ggunky

Again it is not my opinion that he made a bunch of quality saves. That's a fact. A fact that can be backed up by simply watching the save highlights of the game on the Flyers web site.

I clearly said on a previous post that judging any of the goals as soft, is an opinion. And it was written in plain English.

Yes, he's letting the skaters know that the guy in the box is getting ready to come out.

Do you think the "boo-boo" Bryz mentioned earlier in the season is affecting him?

Simmonds surprised me a bit as a choice, but I understand it. He plays with a sort of flair, more than the descriptor "gritty winger" would suggest anyways.

I think the Giants are better than the Patriots right now.

Its a fallacy when people say its hard to beat a team three times in a row. Especially in the NFL. In actuality, teams that win 2 games against an opponent usually beat them the third time because they are simply better. The Pats will be favored, but the Giants will win.

- MBFlyerfan

Patriots have be installed as a 3.5 point favorite. I think the Giants will win, but I always think they will win every game they play. Brady and Bellichick are arguably the best coach/qb duo in NFL history, right there with Walsh/Montana. Noll/Bradshaw, and Lombardi/Starr.

It is pretty much consensus in here that the Bruins are the best team in hockey. Come back anytime.
- MBFlyerfan

Good to hear. I'm nowhere near that confident/cocky about the Bs, since over almost 30 years as a Bruins fan I knew only defeat and disappointment until last year. Old habits die hard, but I guess it's natural as fans to pick apart the flaws of your team, no matter how good they are.

Love the way the Flyers play the game. I hate them, but dammit do I respect them!

don't need an explanation

you are just saying we need to go forward from his last 3 gms. if he has subsequent bad gms, the numbers blow up and you'll just have to pick a new starting point. let's hope the performances are good on balance from here out.

- isaiah520

No I won't have to pick a new starting point. I'll judge that game objectively. So obviously an explanation is needed.

John Elway did it long before Eli did. And I think what happened with Eli was more Archie then Eli.
- PLindbergh31

We aren't talking about Elway. Stay on topic, sir.

but yeah I think Archie def had a say in it, he should just keep his mouth shut. Same as him saying that he doesn't think Luck and Peyton would getting along very well if they were on the same team. Who says that? I see Indi releasing/trading Manning cause they owe him 28 million if he is on the roster this coming summer and drafting luck or RG3.

Right there and probably slightly above, especially if they win in 2 weeks.

Because one guy has a save % of .940, and the other guy has a sub .900 save %. If Bryzgalov was performing at the level of Thomas, or Lundqvist, (which no one expects), he wouldn't get any blame. I don't think questioning goals allowed is roasting the guy, he would be the first person to say he has to play better. I like the fact that he is accountable. I didn't say he was terrible yesterday, just said I wish he would have made a couple more saves.
- PLindbergh31

Thats what I stated earlier. Thomas gets a pass bc of his numbers this year. The issue is every single day Bryz plays in net there is questioning the goals allowed. No matter how anyone tries to spin it he will be blamed for atleast one goal per night (that is considered soft). He has been very good over his last three games, everyone said he must be better, well he is taking steps in the right direction.

Flyers team defense has shown improvement.

Bryz is still letting in back-breaking goals.

- bradleyc4

I wouldn't classify any of the goals he let in as back breaking. And there are still point blank shots coming from unchecked players in the game. Bryzgalov made a number of saves that kept the team in the game.

I'm perfectly happy with the way the situation has played out. Eli is a tougher, more clutch player than Peyton. I would take Eli over Peyton on my team all day, every day.

I'm surprised more goalies don't do it. I was taught as a kid to do it, and when I played in front of a goalie that didn't it always bugged me.

He must be looking at the shootout goals as the back breakers.
