not interested in injury excuses.

Not interested in what the other teams goalie did or didn't do.

- ggunky

Im not making excuses, im just saying the Flyers are playing with 8 rookies and definately plays a factor into the game itself. Even with all of that I thought Bryzgalov played as well as Thomas. The only difference is Thomas will get a pass on the weak goals bc of his overall numbers.

best game i saw this year, im happy with the point because we are missing prongs, briere, jagr who are a huge chunk of this team, to have 8 rookies and 2 being on d i thought we played a heII of a game.

the effort that everyone showed blew my mind, it was a playoff preview and being down a couple guys and hanging in there like we did against the defending scc's being fully healthy says alot.

talbot has taken my appreciation to another level towards him, he does it all, worth every penny he gets.

No doubt.

He is exactly what a team wants/needs come playoff time.

I still hate that they blew a 3rd period lead, makes me insane.

Happens too often for a top 10 NHL IMO

- Buts16

True. I hate when teams sit back rather than attacking. Not saying the Flyers did that but it seems to happen alot in the NHL.

isn't team defense arguably at fault for every goal scored against?
- Buts16

Sure it can be.. I was just saying to Brad that (as he said) the team defense didnt look overly improved yesterday.. all but the 3rd goal came off of obvious defensive break downs.. the 3rd came off of an illegal pick...

EDIT: And there were a ton of other times that Bryz more than covered up for those mistakes (as his job is intended)..

Just watched the game this morning. Lots to like from yesterday's game. Team showed a ton of grit and guts playing with a shorthanded lineup. Could have folded the tents when they got down 3-1. Very physical game, Flyers pushed back yesterday at every instance which was great to see. Schenn had a fantastic game. He was tremendous yesterday. Hartnell incredible performance. Roo with 3 helpers. Sestito is now 4 for 4. Four games played, and he has played well in every one of them. He should remain in the lineup when and if everyone is healthy. He's a bigger version of Rinaldo.

And now on to Mr. Bryzgalov, although he made some nice saves yesterday he allowed a few questionable goals again. When you are playing a top team in the league, one soft goal allowed is usually the difference. The second goal scored by Seguin, was from an angle and it trickled through Bryzgalov. He should have stopped that. The third goal is debatable. It was a good shot by Lucic, and it appeared Bryzgalov may have been partially screened, but it's a save you would like the tender to make. The 5th goal was simply horrible. Have to get over to cover the post, that was brutal.

If the goalies names stayed the same, but the goals were switched (the goals we scored were instead Boston scoring on Bryz)... Bryz would have been killed 3 times by now.

He absolutely covered the post.. but in the process left his 5 hole open.. which is where he was beat.

It could be Shelley. At least now, it's actually debating something that happened on the ice that's arguable.

I have to watch it again. Looked like he was slow moving laterally. Whatever the case it trickled through. Can't allow goals like that.

Shelley has impressed me a bit.. not saying I want him anywhere near the team when healthy, but he is a little bit better than the skate sharpener guy at Max's Hockey Shed.

I agree I would like to see him make that save, but it i dont think it was an easy save at all.. hell I think Thomas allowed 3 goals that were weaker.. Personally, I think Gussy needs to do a much better job in that situation..

Bryzgalov has played 359 NHL games. He has played 33 games with the Flyers. What defines Bryzgalov as a player? Half a Season in Philly, or his entire body of work. Are you stating that as a Vezina Trophy runner up two Seasons ago, Bryzgalov never "stole" any games for his team?
- MJL

I hear you. I'm sure he did steal games. But I do think one great year doesn't define his abilities either. His lifetime stats are average. (.914 % 2.57 GAA) It also doesn't seem like he has the mindset to handle the pressure here. Do you have the confidence in him to come up big in a game seven right now? I just think they over-evaluated his abilities. Going into this season, the consensus was that defense and goaltending was going to be key because there were so many changes and unknowns up front. Could you imagine if the Flyers weren't one of the top scoring teams in the league. They would be towards the bottom of the conference. I think that, for some people, this great offensive season has masked how poorly Bryz has played.

Up until that goal I thought Gustafsson has been extremely good for this team. I think he is going to be a hell of a player for the Flyers.

What are you talking about. The Super Bowl is the Harbaugh Bowl.

I have a serious question. Is any goal given up by a Flyers goalie ever not one that "should have been stopped." And is any goal scored by a Flyers player ever a cheap goal?

Oh absolutely.. One bad play doesnt define a player unless he is in goal.

This a joke. Only a joke.

But seriously.. he has good speed and a good first pass

Thomas certainly wasn't great, not sure any of the goals were weak though. Two were deflections and Hartnell's 3 goals were snipes.

Funny how home teams in the playoffs are 8-2, and the two losses were by the # 1, and # 2 seeds in the NFC.

Entertaining game. Without Briere and Jagr it's not much of a measuring stick, but I'll take the two points.

Incidentally, it's refreshing to enter the opposing team's forum after a game against the Bruins and see them passionately discussing their own team and not talking about how dirty/classless the Bruins are.
