I have yet to see anyone say that Bryzgalov is blameless for his plight.

The "apologists" seem to be emboldened by the sheer stupidity of "fans" openly rooting for one teammate over another. I see idiots shredding Bryzgalov over his personality, ripping him for being a media whore and for being more interested in being on TV than stopping pucks. Hell, there's people that seem to take glee in Bryzgalov's struggles.

I defend Bryzgalov, and believe that he will recover and play much better, because he has a track record that says he can. But I also realize that he's not playing well and that is causing his poor numbers as much as bad luck and breakdowns.

Again, I have yet to see anyone apologize for Bryzgalov that doesn't admit that his play has been subpar.

- Jsaquella

heres what I see. people here giving one sentence lip service to bryzs play, then going on a tirade against any other possible cause of a goal or making lame excuses. there are so many soft goals this yr and the #s are so bad, it's obviously a combo of factors. more than anything, bryz needs to be better. his lateral movement in particular is wanting. I would think he could improve in this area, however, and you'll never find me rooting for any resolution that goes against the O & B.

Yesterday especially, Sestito did what I am guessing management thought Shelly would do. And that is make the other team crazy, get under their skin, and back it up whenever someone decided to challenge him. And it is correct, Rinaldo is no match for a heavyweight (not for lack of heart, only size), but Sestito is THE heavyweight out there most nights.

I like that both can play as well.

- MBFlyerfan

Agreed. Both guys serve a purpose. Sestito held his own with Lucic. He also got Horton to take a penalty. Liked his game yesterday.

I think Sestito has earned his place on this team, even if its just as an injury replacement. He has played 3 games or so, so far and I have liked what I see every time. He is what the Flyers need, a "goon" that can play. I have no problem with him taking regular shifts. He doesnt seem to take bad penalities, fights at the right times, throws big hits, and can still play a fundamental hockey game. If there was ever a reason to rid yourself of Shelly, Sestito is it.

To piggyback the faceoffs thought, I felt G yesterday was an animal at the dot. Anyone gotta stat on that?

speaking of the young guys...how is Harry Z minus 12? I liked the way he plays until I saw that stat. I'm not a big stat-guy, but that makes you wonder. Rinaldo and Shelley are both minus 6.

If it were my call, Sestito would be taking over the enforcer role. He's looked okay on the ice, and yesterday he did well to take the Bruins off their game when he could.

Flyers 4th liners are on the ice for a ton of goals against in very little ice time. It's an issue no question.

Because our 4th line isn't a shutdown defensive line like it used to be, and because they aren't as gifted offensively they are on the ice for more goals against, then goals for.

And what I see, is a lot of people rooting for him to fail. I see a lot of people blaming him for every single goal. I see people trying to tell those others to look at the bigger picture, and not be so shallow minded, and I see them getting labeled as apologists.

Yes. His fundamentals are off. He's had issues tracking the puck. His rebound control has been wanting. His lateral movement, at times has looked more stiff than a corpse. His glove hand hasn't been very reliable at times, as he's failed to catch several pucks that hit his glove.

Is that being negative enough about him for your taste? Should I criticize his comments on HBO? How about his jacket that looks like it came from a Members Only outlet store in Delaware? Because people don't just stop at blaming him for his on ice performance, they carry it over into his personality.

If that causes some of us to limit our critique to one sentence in a post, or if some of us want to focus on the good in his game and the likelihood of him bouncing back and playing well then I guess you can either deal with it, or ignore what we post.

Yup, to be honest, I would not mind if there was a trade, if Sestito became a regular player. Just have an energy line of Sestito,Talbot,Rinaldo.

Even without a trade, I like the idea of Sestito being the guy we inject into the lineup when we feel the need for a bruiser over Shelley. And I don't exactly consider myself a member of the "Shelley Bashing Coalition".

I was not excited about Sestito's play in the preseason. He was running around, playing poor defense, really looked lost.

During both his call-ups, he's done nothing but play his role well. He's getting under skin, fighting, hitting and even providing offensive pressure.

More of a shot at Members Only, methinks. Delaware just happens to have some great outlet stores, made better by the lack of sales tax

That is a tough choice. I would rather him be in the lineup than Shelly. I think Rinaldo and Sestito bring different things to the table. Rinaldo is more of an agitator/energy guy, where I see Sestito as a sledgehammer.

Someone said it great yesterday, it is comparing a shotgun to a bazooka. But if I HAD to chose between those two, I would take Rinaldo.

Where I would make the Sestito choice is between Sestito and Harry Z. Rotate them depending on the opponent.

- MBFlyerfan

agree that they're two different players. i like rinaldo a lot. i'm very interested in getting a long look at sestito. flyers have some good options on the 4th line

Interestingly enough.. a guy who has spent the vast majority of his time on the 4th line and killing penalties, Sean Couturier, is a + 13.

When your big selling point as a state is no sales tax, you get lumped in with the outlet store jokes.

I love going to Delaware and buying stuff without handing the state 7%
