Brayden Schenn was very Mike Richards today. Great move by Homer. Richards lost his edge so he traded for a younger better one.

Maybe it's just hindsight, but i would've loved to have seen Bob play this game...

If anything just to see how he does against "tougher" competition like some people were suggesting after he's played so well against "Scrubs".

- Yosimar89

no way to know if bob gets them the W today. bryz made some good stops. and as far as i'm concerned, they didn't lose this game today. unfortunately he hasn't been able to make a save in the SO.

Getting back to the shootout. I blame the coach. We had a guy totally dominate Thomas today, and your choices beside your best player are simmonds and read, WTF.
- JoeRussomanno

I agreed with Lava's choice not to throw Hartnell out there in the SO. I had no problem with Read but I would have used Timo instead.

And finally, I would have skated out the Cooter to take the third shot.

But that's me.

Can you explain why you wouldn't have used Hartnell? I'm sorry but imo he had a mental edge on Thomas today.
I think Cooter lacks the burst to be effective on the SO, maybe Schen but I still wanna see Voracek out there.

i would have rather seen hartnell or even schenn or couturier over simmonds. don't get me wrong, i love simmonds game and he played well today. just not who i would have picked in that spot.

Oh yea that's another thing, Bryz played back to back and Matched Thomas's effort.

Maybe, and I don't agree with this if it is the case, but is he possibly rewarding Simmonds for his play?

Ill take solace in their compete level today. They initiated the physical play, they forced the tempo and kept coming at the bruins. The refs were awful, both ways, and the Flyers didnt capitalize on the 2 late PPs. Say what you will against Bryz, but I can only fault him for the last goal. He was late in realizing the play went the other way and couldnt get his stick down quick enough. Regardless, Cambell's stick was parked in the crease, 6 inches off the goal line, tough save to make either way.

One thing I would like to see Reese work with him on: Spreading his feet wider when he's on his knees. Many of these deflections are finding the smallest amount of space to get by him. If his feet are wider, he takes away that space.

- KINGKENZO

he turns his legs in parallel when he butterflies a lot, especially on deflections, and he gives up the corners of the net. definitely needs to work on that.

That's my point. Not everyone is a shoot out guy. I just don't see what Lavvy sees in him.
You send Hartnell out there and bam Thomas has the guy who just dusted him off coming right at him. Gotta have an effect.

He's not going to get any credit today Joe. It's par for the course. You and I have been around enough, and seen enough Hockey to know better.

I think if they lost 1-0 he'd get roasted.
Edit:
If people go back and check the Flyers lost a similar game to the bruins 7-5 last year with Boucher in net. I'm sorry but he's an upgrade over what we had, he made a lot of big saves, but when you play with fire you're gonna get burnt, he made more saves than Thomas and The Bruins chances were as equally as good as what the Flyers had. Finally, no Leon Stickle poop and we win this game.

Bryz didnt play that bad today. He had a goal or even two (max) that maybe he could of had but overall I thought he was just as good as Thomas today.

Brayden Schenn was very Mike Richards like today.

I thought he was tremendous in just about every facet of the game -- and this was a playoff-type intensity game. A shame he didn't get on the scoresheet.

Only thing is as his feet are wider, so is the 5 hole. But I agree totally with the first paragraph.
- MJL

it's not that his stance needs to widen, it's that he has to keep his pads turned out once he drops, not turn them back in.

best game as a flyer. awesome today. i just wish he didn't try to go through all 4 bruins on that last powerplay- tried to do too much and coughed up the puck.

I was thinking the same thing, and I said to myself well he's a Rookie trying to make things happen. Then on the same PP, Voracek tried to do the same thing.

Agreed. I like how he battled today. Wasn't about the stats today. I'd like for him to have come up with either the Seguin goal that was chipped over his glove or that wraparound goal but he also made his share of difficult saves at key teams as well.

it was a good test for bryz to play back to back, but he's used to playing 65+ games a year, so it shouldn't have been an issue. thomas was beyond fortunate today that the basket full of rebounds that he punted out were just out of reach of the flyers sticks all day.

Struggling. Its a long season. Someone brought up today how great of a season Mike Smith is having in PHX. System helps I suppose. He's still a good goalie and you guys are missing key pieces.

However, tomorrows fan dialogue will be that Bryz sucked.

hartnell's a bit of a spaz, so he probably doesn't score on the SO anyway, but i agree with your thinking. he put a 3 spot on thomas today, and played a great all around game. no doubt thomas is thinking about that if hartnell gets a SO opportunity.

All anyone has to do is go to the Highlights of the game and see the save highlights and some of the key saves he made at key times in the game. He was a big part of the Flyers getting a point today. But some will ask you what your smokin when you state the reality.

I think if he keeps his intensity up and polishes his technique up some more he's gonna finish out with a heckuva season.

Not by extending the groin, more rotation from the hip. The top of the pads stay together, less V shape and more horizontal postioning.
