The only thing i would change in this line is put Duchene at LW and Mueller at RW, when Duchene back, if this team got a lucky to stay healthy and our D continue to play that hard we could do a really big damage at anyone in my opinion. BTW Giguere must be the starter until the end of year if this team want a chance to make the playoffs, hopefully Sacco will do that.

Either way it'll be a potent line.

whats the word on hishon, is he playing with the monsters or still out with symptoms?

Landy, Radar and Hishon could be a solid line one day

Dater has a decent article up about how we should stay pat at the deadline, no need to decrease our prospect pick stock as it seems a bit low at the moment.

I wonder if we could pull off a cap dump kind of trade at the deadline without sacrificing very much to do so.

Dater has some points, but like you were saying, he's missing the fact that there are teams out there looking to slim down payroll and the avs have pretty decent cap space to work with.

With Muell on RW... I can easily see our top-6 being set (fingers-crossed they stay healthy).

I'd like to see us go after a solid 3rd-line Center like Antoine Vermette, Dominic Moore or Sami Pahlsson to help round out the bottom lines. I don't think we necessarily need the blockbuster deal this trade deadline. But a solid depth pickup could be the difference in giving this team a boost into the playoffs.

I was thinking around the same thing, 3rd line upgrade, someone that has a bit more offensive upside to their game. Kind of like how Boston hit a home run on Peverly.
Maybe Porter and a 4th could be enough to get a trade like that done if they are looking to dump

The indications are he's been shut down for the year. They are taking the Mueller approach to him. Will be reevaluated in camp.

When duchene comes back it looks good

Mueller and Duchene are great together and if those two could form up on Stastny's wings that line could be dynamic

Mueller-Stastny-Duchene
Landeskog-O'Reilly-Hejduk
Galiardi-McClement-Winnik
Kobasew-Van der Gulik-McLeod

that's a solid lineup as long as the defense plays strong and Giguere holds out. He's the starter the rest of the year, about 3 out of every 5 games.

Team is just better in him and Varly can learn what it takes to win in the NHL.

Oh right he's still on this team. Jones on line with Gali and Winnik, McClement with Kobasew and McLeod. DVDG down to LEM

3 Winnik - McClement - Jones (which apparently is an unfair line according to Jim Fox)

I pulled this off of mile high and thinking back on the game. Jones actually played pretty well.. No scoring but he was moving the puck in the O zone and in on the fore-check. He was definitely noticeable last night.

What people are saying about not making huge moves but something small is exactly why I keep harping on Ruutu. He will not be expensive to acquire and he can play wing along with bringing offense and more grit to the forward core. He is really one of very few guys out there that I see as a fit for this team as far as a deadline move. As much as I talk about wanting a trade I am not for some sort of block buster or anything that involves our young players.

Where I differ from some people is that I do think our 2nd this year is expendable as long as the player we pickup can be signed and kept like a Ruutu type. That 2nd rounder has no guarantee of helping us even within the next 2 or 3 years so a player in his mid and even late 20s with 5-8 years left of a good career is worth that any day.

Vermette is one of my favorite players, he would bring such leadership and is amazing on faceoffs. I would just die of happiness. He would be pretty hard to get out of CBJ though

Maybe not as hard as you think. Think Columbus will restart and jettison a whole lot of pieces. Avs would probably be able to do it for Kent Patterson and Troy Rutkowski. Two prospects that won't fit into Avs plans but could help Columbus.
