At least Garth Snow did one normal thing in his GM career and drafted John Tavares.
- UIF

The time that snow was at the podium making the pick I was terrified they were taking hedman. I still occasionally watch the draft reaction video on YouTube to recapture that moment. How good is this kid going to be next season after he works on yet another area of his game this offseason??

One thing I will say, I have never seen such an improvement in a players skating ability. It is downright scary how big a difference it is

JT does not want this season to just slip away. He's doing everything he can to keep the team in it.

My dad was on the phone with me when they made the pick, and for whatever reason the broadcast at his place was a second or two ahead of mine. So when I heard screaming cheers through the phone before Snow had even made the pick on my TV, I knew they took Tavares.

See this was all I said about a week ago. It would make things fun for us if the Isles went on a streak and made a push down the stretch. I know all about the teams above them and how hard it is to catch teams but when they work hard, get some recognition and make some noise it is at least fun again. JT is a beast right now.....he alone may give us something we have not seen here in years, thats other players wanting to come here for the chance to play with him.

Good for Howie for crapping all over Greenberg for that moronic ESPN article
- eichiefs9

You know...I hadn't heard about this until I heard it tonight...so I googled the article. That guy is a friggin' moron. No JT, no Skinner, no Seguin, no Benn, etc. Some of the guys he put on that list are laughable.

Great is too strong a word. Snow needs to make a deal or two to help this team try to make the playoffs this year. He also needs to have a very strong offseason before I would even call him a good GM.

Good game tonight. Both teams really wanted it but the Isles picked up the tempo in the second and the Canes just couldn't keep up.

This would be good news. I just do not get the Isles. They keep playing lousy players like Mottau, Staios, and Rolston then out of left field we hear they are trying to lock up one of there good players. Why can't the Isles always do the right things from the start?

JT and Rolston have been our two most consistent players. Jt has been consistently great and Rolston has been consistently terrible.
- mighty13duck

Ya had me worrying about your sanity for a moment!

JT is a monster!

Was just emailed my 6 tickets for Isles vs Canes a week from tuesday in Raleigh. Great seats @ a great price.

If its a repeat of tonights game? It's well worth the 3 hr+ drive.

Theres's nobody in the league I'd rather have on my team than Tavares. There, I said it. Love Nino's play in front of the net tonight.

Speaking of..is it me or are they way more attractive this year than they have been in the past? Maybe I just didn't pay enough attention.

- eichiefs9

You haven't been paying attention to them then.

There is no body I'd rather have on the isles either. He is a special player/ person who is taking it upon himself to resurrect the franchise. He is the best player ive ever seen the isles have. I was 2 when the isles won their 4th cup so I can't count those guys.

A great player indeed. He never said Tavares was better he just said he would rather keep JT then trade him for anybody. Why does that bother you so much? Especially when its an Islander blog

Malkin is a hell of a talent & in my opinion top 3 in the league... but when you put it all out on the table.. he is not the marketable player that Tavares will be. He may very well end his career with more points then JT... but there is more to a player then just on ice talent & for a franchise like the Isles.. JT is that player... Malkin wouldn't be.

You mean like Vlasic, Stewart, Berglund, Perron, Little, and Kostitsyn?

Those guys are all good players but Tavares (as well as every single guy you mentioned) is head and shoulders better than them.

JT gets his streak to 12 games , get the game winner and has 2 golas ...yet the NHL says nothing on their site other than he scores the game winnier. Gaborik gets 2 goals and he is the 3rd star...just bugs me sometimes

2 goals and an OT game winner with a few seconds left over the defending stanley cup champs with first place in the east on the line..

Or 2 goals an OT game winner over the bottom team in the east by the team just above them in the standings.. Sorry I'm going to go with the Ranger story too.

As an Isles fan I get what your saying but you do have to be realistic. That was a huge game. Ours was only huge for us.

This team is just a couple of players away. But OMG can we dump Pandolfo and Rolston already, they have no jump at all. Rolston skates in circles cause he just can't keep up anymore.
Pandolfo's penalty at the end of the second was HORRIBLE, he is a mile from the play, and just drops the stick right into Staals skates with 3 seconds on the clock in the neutral zone! I know maybe the refs can say no chance to effect the game, sure, but the question remains why have your stick there at all? Have a clue, took the Isles half the period to get going after that, when they had dominated the second. I don't want to mortage the future, but a real center is needed here for the second line, Nilsson is a 3rd line center, and frankly Bails has become very good on the PK and would be serviceable as a 4th line C. So No More Reasoner, Rolston, Pandlofo and while we are at it Staios also.
