Could be either I suppose. Until there's a new deal I reserve the right to be....let's say nervous.

Bergeron is a PP guy, but ok. You think they'll resign Emery and move Crawford?
- Artyukhin76

Who knows? I think Crawford stays and either they resign Emery cheap, or find another vertern backup at about the league minimum for next year.

That's just my $.02, anyways.

What are you smoking .....it would take Bickell and a prospect to get 1 of them....Bickell sucks and if we know he sucks gm,s do too....
- southernhawk

Moore is a money whore, Kubina coughs up the puck for a goal a game and Bergeron is as soft as they come, so no I am not smoking anything.

I would agree, but whatever happens the Hawks will NOT overpay for goaltending. Been there, done that, with marginal results.

Much like Detroit, It doesn't seem to be the Hawks or Bowman's style.

Bickell and a prospect isn't bringing anything worth a crap here....sellers market mean anything to you...

It depends completely on how other GM's view a Brian Bickell. At this point in his Hawk tenure, most fans see him as a wasted roster spot. But his size, skill set and salary may make him more valuable than we fans realize. That's Bowman's job...

I'd figure Yzerman would try to make a deal for someone like Bernier, Harding or Schnieder over the summer?

Kubina and Moore are UFA's and Bergeron has been a pain in most Lightning fans ass. We don't drop them now then we get nothing for them in the summer.

I think this is Bickells last year on his deal....so he's gonna want more money after this year.......but I'm not sure. He may have 1 more year

That's a possibility, but at this point you'd have to think with the way he's played this year, he isn't going to bring much in a trade.

Probably not gonna happen. Most likely they'll find a stop-gap and develop our prospects like Tokarski and Helenius.

He could....but Q likes him....belive it or not I've heard he has been working with leddy...he's good in the room makes a very good first pass....and is probably the best fighter in the nhl now that we don't have boogaard and Laraque....
- southernhawk

The reason he's the best fighter in the league is because all the other cement heads who can do nothing but fight have been put out to pasture where they belong. The era of the one dimensional goon who can't skate a regular shift is over. Now if we could only eliminate the designated hitter...

I agree completely...and I'm a White Sox fan. But I'm also old enough to remember the pre-DH days of the American League.

Disagree, he'd help this team a ton. A lot of teams would like to have him.
- John Jaeckel

Yea, whoever is down on Halpern doesn't know hockey. Yes, I sorta know Jeff, because he skates with a coach in Ashburn, Va...even tried to get him to play in our C league game one night. Haha...dude is good people.

Also, he would bring INSTANT help to the Hawks PK...Jeff is terrific in the draws and is a very smart player. He would be excellent in a L3-C or L4-C role for the Hawks.

I think Erskine would also be valuable. Not a sexy player by any means, but is big, is tough, will hit, will clear the crease, protect his teamates...THINGS THIS TEAM NEEDS.

Agree completely! Halpern would be a fantastic pickup in my opinion. Erskine would be good depth guy.

Just noticed that Ben Smith is an RFA after this season. Not sure if that effects his trade status, but it may.

Your point about many of us over-valuing are own guys is taken -

I think you are undervaluing them a bit too, here however. I don't see the potential upgrade of these two players to equal the potential of a Morin or a Saad, or the potential to move them for bigger fish elsewhere.

It's not just the potential of the player as a Hawk that should be considered, it's the potential return in other trades.

- FredoXV

You can't assume Morin or Saad is included. In Saad's case at least, you shouldn't assume that.
