Only because the roster spot isn't needed yet....But don't count on him being here after the deadline.

Scott is not going any where.....they might not resign him....but he has ZERO trade value.....

JJ/Al - What is the likelihood that this deal happens in terms of percentage? Also have you connected with the Caps blogger to see what he's heard?
- golfbard

This is one where there was smoke on Wed. night as I put out on Tweeter and mentioned here yeaterday...

All I will say for now is both players mentioned are the type of players the Hawks need and I have mentioned that in the past.

Fool me once...

We already took Monty, I'd say no to anymore Sabre's that Sabre fans would be happy to see go.

- Ogilthorpe2

Funny, but most Sabres fans do not want to see him go.
He has been one of the few, very few, bright spots on a team littered with no shows.

And on the Montador part, Leopold is MUCH better.
It's not even close.

Steve was so bad for the last half of the season that everyone wanted him out.

The polar opposite is true about Jordan Leopold.

Bickell to start and realize Halpern is only signed through this season...

Another reason I say that a major prospect in return would be foolhardy...

He could....but Q likes him....belive it or not I've heard he has been working with leddy...he's good in the room makes a very good first pass....and is probably the best fighter in the nhl now that we don't have boogaard and Laraque....

Or he could get claimed off of waivers. That wouldn't be a bad thing either. I would think the chances of that happening are slim to none.

At worst, the Hawks have Bollig in the system. Erskine I would think could fill in at that compacity, if Im not mistaken?

All of that, and I do mean all of it, was accomplished pre-all star break.

He struggled so much that he was put in the press box towards the end of the season, and when he did play, including the playoffs, he fell down, on his own, a couple of times while bringing the puck up the ice.

I think he just wore down IMO, but his terrible play is why Buffalo did not sign him again.

Hawk, he has had two fights...

and Scott has no place in the NHL let alone on an Cup team.

There are a lot of great guys playing in the AHL too.

I'm not sure I want Kruger as my 2nd line center. In fact, the more I think about it...I don't. Kid is OK, but is a he a top 6 player? I think not...as of now.

In fact, who knows if this trade for Halpren (if it goes through) doesn't bump Bolland up a line, or they put Sharp back at center when he returns?

Again, I'm always hesitant when I see rumors in print about the Hawks and X, because almost never does anything come out of it. It's always a smoke screen for something else. So I wouldn't get too high on Washington being the dance partner..

"while Booth is -8 and missed a month due to injury."

Booth is actually -2 while playing with the Canucks.
He has scored 13 points in 21 games with the Canucks, not too shabby.

At $3 million next season, Leopold would gum up the cap here in Chicago. I can see the Hawks adding a contract at the dealine with years on it at forward, not on defense.

Monty will be ok here in time I hope......look at other outside d men the hawks brought in....johnson, boynton,leddy,.....only leddy is left.....so if he can adapt to Q,s scheme I think he'll be ok

When the Vancouver Canucks traded Mikael Samuelsson for David Booth, the hockey world screamed steal—all the focus was on how great the Great Booth would make the Great Canucks. Hasn’t really worked out that way. At least not yet. Samuelsson is not really the story in Florida, except in 18 games he’s +1, while Booth is -8 and missed a month due to injury. And that’s the real story here.

Not yet being the key words. Look at you JJ having to bring up the Canucks in your Hawks/Panthers gameday blog...they're always there, in the back of your mind, all you can think about is the hate you have for the Canucks. Don't worry I have no doubt that the Booth for Samuelsson deal will end up being a steal especially in the playoffs.

Would the play of Shaw and Hayes perhaps sway them toward spending a little more on D?

They could also deal Jordan to an other team after the season if they wanted to as well.

Not really a bright spot, He turns the puck over alot/ bad +/- player.
He's -8 in the last three games with two shots on goal.

Correct...but who cares?

Most of Scott's fights are pointless, staged, and hold very little influence on the game itself.

Rupp said it best in 24/7 when yelling at Shelley, it was something like...Shelley asks Rupp to drop the gloves and Rupp says, "You are (frank)ing irrelevant, if you had any influence on the game I'd fight you"
