If any of you have ever seen the great, and underrated, movie called The Cooler with William Macy, that's what Don Fehr is to a T.
- kingcong39

Luv that movie...Alec Baldwin played a great ass****.

I wouldn't totally agree with that. I come from a union background. That's all I'm going to say though. I'm not mixing my sports with politics.

No sir, I won't do it.

For the record, I am a Union Member myself, so I do speak from experience.

I hope so! It seems the Cubs have the right ownership. If Theo is what everyone says he is, then it can't be all that bad.
- EKolb13

His track record early on was very good...not so good of late. Should be interesting...lot of diamond changes on both sides of town.

Dirty backstabbing union leadership is what you're inferring to then?

Don't think that's a role that's a big stretch or him. Love him as an actor, but from what I've seen/read, pretty sure he is an ass****

Yeah, but from my experience, sadly that pretty much describes all Union Leadership. I have no doubt that every union was born out of neccesity, and with noble intentions, but as they say, the road to hell...

Unfortunately over time, IMO most unions become too big for their britches and just become more and more corrupt over time. They've gone from a good intentioned necessity, to just a neccessary evil.

The issue, and this is my last comment on this cuz I am not a trust fund baby and had more of a blue collar background...

But until performance rather than tenure is the prime consideration for wages we will not see a significant change in the labor opportunities in this Country.

Too often things end being a Sweet Heart Union where the big money corp. make all the rules anyway.

I can't argue with your logic. Just the same he may stick.

Wait until TrueGrit gets a look at this! Oh boy!

The twitter hype is getting a tad crazy, but no doubt this kid has a lot of what makes good teams better. I will just let his actions speak...

I don't know which publications you refer to. Compare them against the Blues or even the Wings and they aren't so great.

The Hawks have produced great players over the last five years through drafting obscenely high after sucking obscenely for a decade. Not through developing guys drafted in the latter part of rounds— which describes pretty much ALL their prospects now. So, you have no point there. Shaw is proving to be a steal, but he has not been "developed" by the Hawks.

- John Jaeckel

Hockey Prospectus had the Hawks prospects ranked 5 and STL at 21 this past July.

Burish, Brouwer, Buff and Hammer were all picked after the 4th round and they helped contribute the Cup team. Shaw, Kruger and Smith are all 5th rd picks and contributing to the Hawks now. After winning the Cup and being forced to purge the team, the Hawks have acquired alot of picks in the top 90 of the last few drafts which has re-stocked the pipeline therefore strengthening what was a pretty dry system after those mentioned above were called up to the big show. The system is more stocked now then it's been in years for the Blackhawks.

While they may not have any home run hitters right now it's pretty evident that their system is pretty damn deep.

Hey I'm back.

Wanted to bring this up. It's trivial, but thought I would mention it. Sam Fels wrote a piece regarding Brian Campbell's return tonight and whether he would be cheered or jeered.

I for one hope he gets a standing ovation...we could sure use his play this year.

I'll be disappointed if he doesn't get a good ovation.

On top of anything, he deserves it for being a key part of the Cup winning goal.. Most people forget he made a nice play keeping the puck in the zone before giving it to Kane.

Only assist on the cup winning goal. That alone deserves a standing O.

He sure did...here's a trivia question...who were the 5 Hawk skaters on the ice when Kaner scored the winner....Kaner and Soupy are 2..who were the other 3 ?

No cheating
